Question on using people's mods

So I have a number of subs for various ships and such. I added four more today and I cannot get them to show up in game. I've restarted the game, Steam, and my PC and still cannot get them to show up. I found their files in my My Games folder so I know Steam downloaded them, but I cannot see them in game.

I thought maybe they are race specific, but they are from an author who has made dozens and dozens and all of his other work shows up in game.

Any suggestions?

All designs are race specific, but you can override that. Go into Options > Gameplay and check "show all ship designs". If the issue is that you're not using the right ship set you should then be able to find the designs.
