If you started work for this company how much would you expect to be paid per hour and where do you think they would get this money to keep you working for them?
You buy this game for a one of price then you expect to own it, meanwhile other games are coming along taking a big share of the market and you expect them to keep working on it to keep up with the market are they there just to work for you and for nothing.
We all know that few people can own every game that comes out so what is wrong with them trying to earn a little more cash to keep them working on the game and also bring out other games to keep you happy.
Accusations of greed are condemnations on moral grounds, but business is an amoral activity. The whole point is for Funcom to make money, and they've decided that they can't reliably keep a larger pool of buyers at a lower price point, so they cater to a smaller crowd. I believe they still could make lower prices work, but there isn't much incentive for them to change course while they're comfortable.
That's where arguing in the court of public opinion is important, as convincing those players that Funcom have increasing made themselves beholden to is the key to affecting some degree of change. Inquiring about how to take them without paying isn't going to be looked upon favorably by most people, even less so Funcom. It's counter-productive to do so because you become the caricature that apologists for the Bazaar paint their opponents with.
Well after the complete incompetence shown with this abysmal update, i guess not much.
