Okay, i'll bite, but only, as i go by
"Let's assume you are honest about it and that it's not a troll attempt......", espeically as you posted in the Workshop discussion. Trolling wouldn't gain much attention here anyway.
So i'll be positive about it and respond.
A)
Regarding "recent update" :
Last content update was in 2019.
B)
The only reason why this could happen is....
Having diplomatic distance in Game Rules at default or disabled,
while one of these being the case :
1 ) africans having same religion/culture as anglo-saxon
2 ) them being part of your realm
3) Playing on alternate/random world mode
The first two can't be the case in 8/9th century or rather unusual, unless you use some weird mod or unless you actualy want to brag and managed to expand from 'Dark Africa' to England in 100 years. Likely not impossible, but who does without cheating and your argument about "historical correctness" would look rather foolish. Still if so, i'm sure folks did that before, potentially also without cheating, but i doubt they would wonder about immigration/marriage from the south nor that it would grant you much attention or bravos, In the latter case you should have simply bragged right away, instead of using that detour about "authentcity" and "correctness". At least that could have created a potentialy interesting discussion on how and noone would mind.
Now i try to still want to believe that you are serious with your thread, but it's hard.
PS : I'm playing the game since release in 2012 and still nearly daily. ;)
PS_2 : Thinking about another potential cause, but a rather unlikely one :
Nearly everyone or at least many in anglo saxon lands are members of the devil society and hence might cause witches with sourthern portraits, but that as well is alo very unlikely and too fast for the game start in 8th and the coming century in the 9th.
PS_3 : I actually had another idea, which actually sound possible.
Possible if you don't have all portrait packs as then by intermarriage portraits might get some weird mixes often ending up in for instance turkish/arabic portraits, which while not ebony are the default for Africa without portrait packs..or used to be the default.
Hmm..,actually not sure if is these are still the default portraits for 'Dark Africa', but if so, then it could be created by interculttural marriage.
I might be wasting my time here, but at least it was an interesting thought experiment on the game.
PS_4:
Based on "as it is relatively new", i suspect despite "As a long time CK player" as entree you might refer to CK3.
IF you refer to CK3, then this is the wrong forum.
IF so, i can still say it was fun trying to find an answer to your question.

I did that for centuries (edit : decades, i'm not a vampire) and have enough now.
No matter if i might partially agree with someone or not.
No matter if i agree that there is general decline to see and experience.
I might disgree with the "statues of meritful forefathers" part, but won't discuss that either.
I might agree and disagree on a lot of talking points, but this is a game forum..
Gaming and anything related is for me to avoid the world out there,
just like what sports used to be for.
I also don't take 'friend' invites in general. There are many reasons for that.
I have exactly only one on that list, which was the one big exception.
PS: Oh, i see the link you posted now.
I'm not really interested.
For any future reader, all the video is about is the inclusion of roman emperor Elagabal-us
into CK3 as a woman, while having been an effeminate behaving man, but only as part of the unplayable history. Just a stupid dev doing stupid things somewhere hidden in the game. I wouldn't want that nonsense in my game as a company, but i'm not Paradox.
