Going Modular
So I have successfully split the DOF mod into 5 parts now. I have mixed feelings about this but there are some benefits too - mainly to the community in general as it allows the shipsets to be more universally available and it allows me to offer the DOF Shipset Common Library (shaders, textures) to other shipset builders.

It would really be nice to be able to force a subscription to "required items" though. The way it works now is that it tells the user but doesn't offer a quick way of auto-subscribing other than manually going to the other item and doing it. Even a checkbox on the pop-up list for quick sub'ing would be helpful if auto-subscrbe isn't possible.

We'll see how this all turns out. I can always revert back to one big mod if need be. If there is a lot of confusion over why shipsets aren't displaying, etc then I might do it anyways. Unfortunately, since I am unwilling to maintain yet another separate copy of each shipset/mod it's going to have to be one way or the other.

Thoughts? Has anyone else gone this route before and want to comment?

Gone this route before, haven't had any complaints thus far.

Also, insert obligatory 'yay, I can have shipsets!' comment. :P

Well I knew that you would be one happy to see this change in methods. For no other reason that the shipsets can now all be used with ABEM. They might even be compatible with all of your own shipsets in play too, although I haven't tested with many of yours yet. I made sure the folders and tag names were all different but display names might be the same in a some cases and I'm not sure if that will cause a real issue or not.

They should be fully compatible, yeah. I might have to consider retiring my bunch, though. :P

I don't think that's necessary. Your shipsets are still quite a bit more lightweight and free form in usage. There isn't really any harm in having them around yet for various purposes. Besides, it's not like you're actively updating and working on them these days anyways - are you?

Wolfenray and I were actually discussing the issue of multiple similiar shipsets being available the other day. His take on the issue (being that it was fine) had some good reasons.
