On my old computer I used to download skins and it run fine but now after fresh install the skins load fine but when you play its still just sam. Custom weapons seem to work but skins and some enemy models won't change. Suggestions?

i hate to ask a dumb question here but... you are loading the moddable/unrestricted version right? i had an issue once where i thought i had the modded version set as my short cut and it kept launching the vanillia version of the game. also... if you are clicking to join somone else game before you launch the moddable version it will put you in the standard version of the game... im going to assume you already know all of what i just said

I just make my own for single player enjoyment no servers are ever up for the game its been dead for ages. I'm running the moddable version rna it on my old one recently after its update and the mods still work fine. Guessing its a windows 8 issue or something. Asked some friends and they dont understand why it wont work for me on this one and not my older one.

AHAH! you just answered the question for your self! beleive it or not The custom player skins do not show up unless you are playing in co-op. ie you will play as standard sam even in modable mode if you are playing a single player game!

If you want to use multiplayer characters in Single-Player, use this mod:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=221724525

Also, this might help with the models not appearing:
-If your model is still appearing as Sam, it might be that the game isn't loading your model fast enough the first time around. To correct it, while in a level, double-tap Tab (by default) to load up the Player List, and then close the Player List by pressing Tab again. This *should* force the game to load in your selected model. Alternatively, select your model again in the Multiplayer Character menu.
