Battle Systems?

Hey everybody, I was wondering if any of you knew how to change around the battle mechanics for RPG Maker VX Ace? I have seen a lot of games with the side battle style and was wondering how I could do that. Even better, I would really like to try and implement a battle system reminiscent of the Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics style. Any help would be greatly appriciated! :D

Long story short: you will need to use scripts.

Now you are off to a lot of research either on these forums or on google.

I'm kind of new to the whole script and whatnot, so can I get a little bit more help as to where I should be looking and what I should be looking for?

As the various battle systems are discussed and promoted on just about every RM forum and almost every prominent scripter has at least one to offer the simple answer is Everywhere. Beginning with the official forum and Google.
