Cavalry makes this truly a video game
This game truly is such a video game.

Cavalry galloping forever, never getting tired. Lol.

IRL, horses try to throw their riders, and have to be whipped until they die of heart attacks, because most horses can't gallop more than a couple minutes.

Horses are like motor bikes in this game, galloping right out for up to an hour (or as long as the battle goes for; potential of forever, in other words) - of course, if they could do that in real life, then cavalry would have been historically extremely effective, and all armies probably would have wanted maximum cavalry in their forces, confined only by terrain, where infantry could hide away. Cavalry could ride out from anywhere and ambush from out of sight. Every army would probably likely adopt mongol tactics.

IRL, the mongols only had their strategy, because they had a logistical advantage in many many spare horses, knew how to control trains of horses at a canter or even a gallop (very difficult if navigating), and their horses were specially bred for endurance.

Is there a mod that has endurance for horses? Horses need to rest for a long time, and can get outrun by infantry if they're too tired. Light cavalry and heavy cavalry are different, because endurance is so important that light cavalry would throw away their armor just to get that endurance advantage over heavy and medium cavalry. It wasn't only because they couldn't afford armor; they could afford horses. Light cavalry were specifically sought after in classical and medieval armies.

An endurance system would make infantry way more relevant. Infantry/archer formations were quite powerful in the past. Cavalry was a difference maker, but it had to be utilized with proper tactics, controlled charges, etc. Of course, a combined arms of infantry/archers/cavalry should still be supreme.

The perfect balance would make infantry charges more effective. Heavy cavalry would also have to dismount to stay in the fight.

I don't expect full realism, but a horse endurance system just seems like common sense. Otherwise, it leaves me wondering why they even bothered to use bicycles in later history, or adopt usage of light vehicles such as the jeep.

For a second, I thought this was real life. Thank goodness you clarified this was a PC game.
