There was only one recorded instance of submarine on submarine combat in the Atlantic... a British boat killed a German uboat. OBVIOUSLY, the German boat was on the surface at the time. Ask yourself: how can I tell what depth the enemy boat is with just a hydrophone? It's impossible to solve for the Z axis... you need both "normal" velocity as well as your 3d dimension's velocity in order to have a solution and you also need the initial depth the target boat is at. Torpedoes essentially just fire in a straight line.... additionally, you can't launch torpedos at 100m because that would flood the boat. There was a reason that they had to open an external door and the ship simply was not designed to launch at extreme depth.

Unlike in today's boats, there is no way to solve the 3 DIMENSIONAL problem submarine on submarine combat poses with WWII tech. We have sonic and radar guided torpedoes that can dynamically change depth and "fly by wire" systems that allow the sub to control the torpedo directly. None of that is possible with WWII technology, but is certainly possible today.

Sure, I guess you could make a torpedo dive to 100 meters, but nobody ever thought it was a good idea to do that because you'd have to be so unbelievably lucky to actually hit an enemy sub that there really isn't a point in even trying. Again, how do you propose to do any sort of target acquisition data for this? In WWII this simply isn't possible.

If you want a game that does have modern sub on sub combat, look up Cold Waters. It is not, however, WWII.

Actually Allied submarines accounted for quite a few Axis submarines during the war. All except for one was on the surface but the only submerged submarine on submarine kill in history happened at the close of WW2, again by a Royal Navy submarine vs a U-boat.
