Can somebody create a mod that disables tether distance?
Title. So ive had this problem that the only way to play with my friends (we love pve content and hate public server clutter), is hosting on one of our pcs, but just like Ark, these types of games Tether all players to the host for an incredibly small radius, basically if the host dies (which happens a lot) everybody dies and gets teleported with the host to their spawn point, i hate this sooooo much!, im sure its possible to create a mod that allows you to either change the tether distance to unlimited or remove it entirely! that way we can host servers without the worry of that. Im even willing to pay 50$ for the mod creation!! im that desperate pleeees

No, for co-op the tether exists because one of the game clients are acting as a limited scope server.
Players are tethered to the player on that client because the world is simply inactive outside of that radius, the game will only work in that radius around the player.

The solution is to simply play on a dedicated server that can handle the entire world at the same time.
You can do that for free by getting the dedicated server app and running it on one of the computers and let other players connect to that or if you want an even better experience then you could just rent one.. they're usually like $10 a month so the $50 you would shell out for a mod anyway would get you 5 months. The benefit of renting one is that your computer doesn't need to be on all the time for other players to connect and play when you're not there. (avoid gportal as a host though as they're not very good)

If you just want to run the server yourself, then you can get the dedicated server launcher app here which will make it easier to configure things.

Just one question. Will the dedicated allow Mods to be Installed on the server? I ask because I want to play with my buddies, with mods, without the tether, and cannot afford the rent right now.

I actually have a server with some mods if you guys are curious. Mostly QoL mods with some extra added on goodies.

I play with only 7 - 10 mods. DD, PI, Pippi, AoC, Meteor Showers, Aquilonion Passion Body, are the seven I'm running in my Singleplayer world rn. (I want to add Akihabara Set of mods, but my PC can only handle 10 atm. lol)

Are you hosting the server on your pc? As hosting it and playing on it can be very different.
Xevyr 35 29 Dec, 2024 @ 4:00pm
I mean... AoC sort of makes up for like 80 others :D It's not the number of mods... it's what they do. Your PC should not even notice small qol mods for example depending on how they're made.
Raovake 29 Dec, 2024 @ 4:05pm
Yea AoC is just too heavy now. I especially dislike how they changed the spawning in now. Main one I have is EEWA. But most my mods are smaller QoL, like minimap, level, attributes, inventory etc.

I think it has to do with the settings for my game. I'll have to go through Nvidia and change things in it. (Graphics went from customized to Ultra after Age of Heroes and Nvidia likes to keep it there. My GPU is is an older model, and has issues with running too much of Windows 10 junk plus games at higher settings. Cyberpunk 2077 is the worst in that regard.)

Sounds like a VRAM thing. Though you should be able to reduce the settings. Check in Nivida control panel. That can hard lock settings sometimes. Right click the thing in the taskbar tray.
