A cinematic approach to modeling in Neverwinter Nights
Bringing the game closer to the film achieves a higher level of connection between player and the game through the environment, character and story. The use of film genres such as drama and thriller with unexpected twists increases the player's attention and engagement, making the game an unforgettable experience. Introducing themes from real life adds realism to the game and as such it becomes easier to understand and accept. The character you control is the character that the story is about and everything revolves around.

Visually, the mechanic used in games that can make a game look like a movie are cutscenes, and as such they are necessary to use in order to create such effect. In addition to the visual appeal, cutscenes help to show conversations, set the mood, create emotional connection, and enhance storytelling. However, since they put the player in an inactive state, they should not be used throughout the entire game as that would be the same as watching a movie. Elements like combat, collecting items, transitioning between areas etc, are the elements left for the player to execute, but only in order to advance and continue the story.

What do you mean by "closer to the film"? There is no Neverwinter Nights film. As for realism, this game is fiction. Fantasy. Realism runs counter to the very nature of the game. It's plenty easy to understand as is. The mechanics are as confusing as it has ever been in D&D, so that's not really that big an issue in itself. It's been explained plenty. Even on this forum.
