MMR Protection and Restoration System
Hello everyone,

I wanted to open this topic because I'm sure many of us have experienced the frustration of losing ranked games due to players who intentionally feed, troll, or abandon — ruining not just the game experience but also affecting our MMR, with no proper protection in place.

Currently, while reports and penalties exist, the damage is already done by the time a griefer decides to ruin a match. Losing MMR in those situations is demotivating and ends up driving away many serious players.

My proposal is for Valve to implement an automatic and/or manual review system for reported matches, where:

If intentional feeding or obvious griefing is confirmed, only the offending player should lose MMR and receive additional penalties (matchmaking restrictions or bans).

The rest of the team, once the abuse is verified, should not lose MMR for that match.

In cases of early abandon or prolonged disconnection, a similar system should apply: penalize only the offender and protect the other players' MMR.

Other competitive games already have similar protections, and it greatly improves matchmaking quality and player commitment.

What do you think?
I believe if Valve applied a system like this, toxicity and abusive behavior in ranked matches would drop significantly, and the game would feel much fairer for those genuinely competing.

Leaving this idea here for discussion, and hopefully Valve takes it into account for future updates.

Cheers everyone.
