Dunno what you'd consider to be an easier way, it's fairly easy as it is once you learn how to do it. If you're asking for a different way to script then probably everything in the campaign would need to be remade too.
I think everything you're asking for will require too much work and unlikely be possible. The dev is currently working on another game so there wouldn't be any time for such a project either.
2. Scripting is very easy as it is once you get used to it. It isn't really possible to make it any easier without making it less useful (right now, scripting is very powerful, the entire campaign was made with the same tools)
