[Issue] LightBuilding in UDK Delaying - Don't know why
Hello, recently not too long ago I published my very first Steam Workshop submission called 'The Goat Shack - [Player Home]'. The problem is, whenever I try and rebuild the lighting it seems to take forever on the Lightmass portion. As minutes turned to hours, and as hours turned to more than a whole day, I decided to stop the light build.

Here are some things I have tried to solve this issue:

1. Added a brush around the playable portion of the map, and then implemented a lightmass importance volume.

2. Removed uneeded objects from outside the map as a last resort, although I doubted it would it do anything to help.

My goal is be able to fix the lighting in my map without my laptop overheating everytime I attempt this. I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this issue, thanks!

Note: I tried searching for help on Google and within the UDK 3 documentation pages, but couldn't find any help. I searched within the UDK 3 website because the Goat Simulator Development Kit is run off of UDK 3.

What do you have the quality set to? The production quality lighting can take a really, really, really long time (hours even on a really good PC). Having more cores (16 to 32) is better and will make the lighting build faster, but even then it can take hours for production quality.

If you don't want to wait hours, reduce the quality down.

@botman: I have tried lowering my quality settings to 'Preview', but it still seems to take a very long time to build. In this case, I guess I can conclude that my computer specs aren't that great. If my computer can't even handle the 'Preview' quality setting, then that is clear evidence that my laptop is in serious condition with it's specs(graghics card, RAM, processor(s), etc.). Anyways, thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
