Draconian Addon - Discussion Topic
Placing this here as a direct copy of the Tome forum topic for the same, so steam users can get at it more easily. (Why more addon dev's aren't posting release/note topics here I won't understand...)

Please report draconian-related bugs here, or ask any draconian related questions.

A few folks ahve asked about draconian talents, and how they can tell what the various forms will get/do. In simplest form, all draconian forms share the first racial, inner power. This is always the same at the start, and gains additiional benefits tied to resistance and damage of your appropriate element as you invest in the other racials. The second talent is always a 'body' talent, providing passive boosts to resistance, damage, or various other things that make the form what it is. The third racial talent is always scales, and provides some bonus armor. The fourth racial talent is always an activated attack type talent. Most are breaths, though some are something else.

Draconians also have an ultimate form, which becomes active when inner power is used, if you have enough points invested in your various racials. (12 across all 4 racials, IIRC)
In this form, some talents do additional things. I'm working to improve this for all forms, though it isn't there yet.

Please remember that there is a otpion under gameplay options for draconians, which impacts your choices. The 4 selections on this option are Restricted, Standard, Enhanced, and Unrestricted.

Restricted - The only option available on teh list when choosing your form is 'random'. This is a way to force random, for those who prefer it.

Standard - (The Default setting) Lesser forms (basic elements) are available on the list to choose directly, if they are appropriate for the class (their weight is set high enough for the class). Advanced forms (like Razor, the Crystal forms, etc) are available if the class supports them, however they must pop up when you roll random, rather then being chosen directly. This was the way the original author set the addon up, and it's what the option defaults to if you've never changed it.

Enhanced - (The suggested setting) The same as the above, except that advanced forms that the class supports will ALSO be on the list to be chosen directly, if their weight is set high enough to show up. I believe this is a better experience for the kind of game that ToME is, and this is what I play on, as well as what I suggest the average player should use.

Unrestricted - This setting allows any form to be chosen by any class. It's mostly to help with support for classes made in addons that I don't support yet on my end, as well as for testing purposes. It can also be used for some cheaty-builds if you are so inclined, however it's not even remotely balanced, and while I feel it's well protected against, using forms not designed for a class might result in an occasional rare bug. I don't feel this to be an apporpriate setting for normal play, but with the above caution, if you so choose, you can do so.

Placing Draconian type chart here, for convenience. I will attempt to update this version of the chart, rather then making new ones all the time.

How exactly do you pick between the restircted enhanced and unrestricted versions. I cant find anything on the workshop page or the official forums.
Nevermind i found it. should mention that you have to have a caracter loaded to see the proper options menues.

This is because most addons aren't loaded until the character is generated, due to the fact that you haven't chosen a character yet. Any other addon with options will probably function the same way. (Or I need to learn how to split that function out of mine.)

Nonetheless, the option doesn't take effect until you use the necklace. So it's safe to change it after starting a character, and then continue with that one. It'll remember it after that.

How does one go about making a class /race selctable at random (like where are the lines of code to determine the weight?) thank you should you answer my humble question.
AuraOfDawn 7 20 Jan, 2015 @ 5:17pm
What do you mean? If you mean how draconian types are chosen, the weights are set by class in the file 'draconic_heritage' lua file, found under "addon/overload/data/chats/draconic_heritage"

0 means no chance to spawn, and a higher number gives a higher chance. numbers scale between 1 and 100. Numbers are not percentage, be cause the game pulls from each value, though one can look at the number of possible forms and extrapolate a percentage from that, based off the weights.

If you're asking how a new class has weights set, one adds the shortname for the class, followed by a =, and then the shortname for each form followed by a weight.

If you want support added for a new class, drop the name in here, and I'll whip something together shortly.
