Map Creation Idea

So I'm working on an idea for a game, but I'm hitting a small stumbling block and I'm not sure if anyone here is willing to give me an idea on how to get around it.

The RPG I'm thinking of putting together is an interstellar adventure which would take place on multiple worlds and feature multiple characters' storylines. the idea involving the map is that players could pick whichever planet they wanted to start and would play whichever character(s) are available to play as on that planet. Or to simplify it:

Field Map - Planet/World Selection
Field Map - Planet Surface
Exterior Map - Usual stuff
Interior map - usual stuff

And the question basically boils down to "what is the best or most efficient way to accomplish this idea?"

I know someone wanted to do something similiar with me recently... It is just that I am delayed in my learning of RPGMaker now, but I think you might ask/search for Redweaver_420.

He is also a GRRRRRRRRRREAT teacher. One of my best 3 on this forum if you take on trying his Tutorial Town project and You Tube videos.

I'm creating something 'sort of' like what you are doing- except it's based on multiple time periods, not planets.

Simply start off building one character/planet and then slowly expand from there.
