Can't activate mods

So, I completed Half Life: Alyx yesterday and wanted to see what the community has made on the workshop page. I found a BioShock mod that I liked and downloaded them. But now I can't activate any of them. Is there like a setting or something that I'm missing? This isn't just for this mod,it's for EVERY mod I've installed. I can't activate any of them. I've consulted Google and Reddit and watched several videos on it but nothing has helped yet. I just wanna see what people have made in the last 3 years since the games launch.

or Example :

The solution is to delete any space in the folder name inside hlvr_addons, so "Gunman Contract" -> "GunmanContract"

Thanks. I didn't do any of that but after restarting the game and I think my brother's PC as well,I was able to play any and all mods I had installed prior to this post. Thank you though.
