What happened to Battle of the Dragons [BotD]?

I remember a DOTA-like mod back in the day called BotD that I really enjoyed. I haven't played this game in over a decade so I'm completely out of touch with the modding community. Did anyone keep the mod alive? What is the most played version?

They haven't been updated since they were migrated from the old IGN Vault in 2016 (Migrate Wizard was actually a bunch of community volunteers who salvaged stuff when IGN pulled the plug) but they do seem to have been actively played.

Others may know more.
