TC3D mutiple material tags

Is there a way to make the fbx - TC3D convertion work for an object with multiple materials or do I need to break it into different meshes?

Break it into multiple meshes please. :)

I enforced a single material per mesh rule when I did a big engine rewrite a couple of years ago, for optimisation reasons.
