FYI that's how they seem to work for X4, steam seems to do nothing but they appear in your extensions you will notice a small window on first startup, after installing a bunch off mods, I mean you may not even notice it or even if you blink you may miss it.
That's when X4 seems to do its actual downloading and installing mods but they are so small its done in tenth's off seconds.
Its a lot more noticeable with large mods as the first startup with that extensions window I speak off will be shown a lot longer, mod's like Star Wars Interworlds for e.g.
O kb. All of them. Mods I used. Mods I tested. Nothing changes.
That's how I was doing it for years up until yesterday, now I use a mix of both steam workshop and manual downloading.
The reason I still use those sites manually is because not everything I like is actually on the steam workshop.
Mods like NPC interactions from Nexus or Star Wars Interworlds from its own website / discord.
