Does anyone know how to bake hazard protection into a drone?
I conclude that some sort of script must exist so that the Geometric Owl can be immune to hazards for it's mission, does anyone have any idea how to apply that sort of immunity script automatically to a drone?

Specifically, I had the idea to (try) to make Mk2 variants of vanilla drones with built in hazard immunity, with say a 20% building supply/price markup, but quite frankly I'm well out of my depth.

That goes double for my only other drone related idea, where L/XL ships with a skilled enough crew (and presumably the ability to carefully remote pilot a drone) can dispatch a defense drone to open a storage container, then a cargo drone to retrieve the contents. I don't have a chance of programming AI behavior.

Better yet, would someone who has some idea what they're doing be willing to make such a mod?

It might be better to just use a mod that changes hazards in general.

Tried that one. Honestly, while it semi-fixes the problem, it's no fun. Not opposed to truly hazardous regions, they're a technical hurdle to be overcome with innovation and resources, it's just Egosoft never bothered to create a practicable solution.

Honestly, if a company puts the time and effort to develop the tech to safely travel and harvest from a hazardous region, it would give them an economic edge over competitors that chose instead to harvest resources from farther afield. The thing is, Egosoft didn't give us that option, or the means to mod in that option that I can see. Innovation is a key market force, and it stinks that a developer like Egosoft, who's games revolve around market simulation, gives frustratingly limited options to truly innovate.

That includes giving us the ability give ships, but not drones, deployables, or stations immunity to the effects of The Tide which would be a practical and useful innovation.
