Description
SUMMARY
Adds a strong but timid primitive race with a unique body structure. Not bothered by many things that would bother a human and enjoys communal living. Great at nature-based labor and often no knowledge of combat, but have the speed and physique to be trained into walking tanks. Often brutal backstories, considering how they end up on rimworlds via slavery. All original content.

The aim here is to add a race that helps space feel like its filled with a wide range of unique species.

RACE SPECS:
  • Big, fast, strong immune system, can't get food poisoning, suited for cold environments.
  • Positive mood buffs for barracks, tight spaces, and for colonists "disturbing" their sleep.
  • No negative mood for eating raw food, without a table, or sleeping in the cold.
  • Can eat wild grass, dandelions, hay, and other plants. Cannot eat meat or cooked meals.
  • Right-click grass to force eat it off the ground.
  • Can only use "big" weapons (like a minigun, ikwa, sword, greatbow, and rocket launchers).
  • Can only fit outer-layer and some mid-layer clothing.
  • Worth a lot of money when being sold as a slave.
  • Fast base-speed (130%) for natural tasks, such as taming animals, mining, smoothing.
  • Short lifespans (18 years and become adults at 4).

EXPANSION MOD



Expansion for the Gerzee Race. Currently includes a plant that can be grown in below-freezing temperatures, Gerzee meals that can be quickly made on a crafting spot, a powerful battering ram for those with Gerzee-like strength, a simple Gerzee helmet, and a full Gerzee power armor set. Coming soon: new starting scenario and additional faction.


RECOMMENDED MOD
Graze Up: Lets Gerzee eat grass right off the ground.


RECENT UPDATES
-Updated for Biotech compatibility. Adult lifestage changed to 4 due to some coding requirements of the DLC.
-Removed speed debuff for research and doctoring.

FACTION SPECS:
-The Free Gerzee: Peaceful tribe of ex-slaves just trying to get by.
-The Gerzee Wrathful: Violent tribe of escaped slaves who have mentally snapped from years of slavery and are now very willing to harm, well, pretty much everyone. Unlike most Gerzee, they're great at combat. Spoiler: There is also a fairly unique and powerful pawn-type in this kind of group.

-Continuing to add weapons that the Gerzee can use from other mods (please suggest mods / weapons in the suggestions thread!)
-[Hope] Make it so Gerzee can eat some meat / cooked foods for emergency nutrition, but get sick for doing so.

~Minor Update~

General:
Harmless errors handled for biotech terms (they weren't used without biotech, but now standard Rimworld won't show any error).


Biotech:
Babies now fit in standard cribs.

Update:

Patch added for Way Better Romance, to enable having children at what makes sense for the Gerzee lifespan, rather than what was hard-coded for humans.

Stat debuff removed for doctoring and research (backstories already handle that lore part well enough on its own.

Gerzee no longer can have "ate without a table" thought.

Gerzee updated for biotech, specifically children. Age of lifestages changed to account for code requirements with biotech (e.g., full adult is now at 4 years old rather than 2.5).

I might look into genes specific to the Gerzee in the future too. I just need to learn how they work first.
