Description
DESCRIPTION
This mod adds 5 weapons inspired by the Dark Forces series of games. These weapons were often seen in the hands of Imperial or Underworld factions before they would inevitably end up in Kyle Katarn's hands.

All weapons have alternate fire modes and I have mimicked the original particle effects as closely as I could.

On account of the alternate fire modes, these weapons could not truly be considered balanced with vanilla weapons. I attempted to balance faith to the original designs of these weapons with the interests of not going too far off XCOM 2's rails.

I have no immediate plans to expand this pack further.

You may notice that the concussion rifle and flechette launcher models look like they're 17 years old. That's because they are. I am not aware of any more recent models for these weapons but I wanted to have them in the game.

CREDITS
The Bowcaster Art Assets are from Cavily's Rebel Weapons mod. I also used code from Cavily's Rebel Weapons mod to integrate weapons into pre-existing saves.

neIVIesis did the UI icons for the Repeaters.

WEAPONS
Weapons are categorized below by the weapon whose schematics upgrade them along with a brief description of what the alternate fire mode does.

Assault Rifle

Imperial Repeater Rifle (fires blue bolts inspired by the Dark Forces 1/2 Repeaters)
Alt Fire: Tri-Shot. Short-range "shotgun" blast. Short cooldown.

Heavy Repeater (fires orange bolts inspired by the Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy Repeaters)
Alt Fire: Concussion grenade. Does minor AOE damage. Penetrates armor. 3 uses per mission.

Outcast Bowcaster (so named to differentiate from the Bowcaster in Cavily's Rebel Weapons mod)
Alt Fire: Charged scatterblast. Short-range cone AOE, not a guaranteed hit. Significant cooldown.

Shotgun

Golan Arms FC-1 Flechette Launcher
Alt Fire: Flechette Bomb. Shreds armor, does minor AOE damage. 3 uses per mission.

Cannon

Stouker Concussion Rifle
Alt Fire: Concussion Blast. Significant AOE damage. Penetrates armor. Long cooldown. Depletes magazine when fired.

Is it possible to add upgrade slots to these weapons? I experimented with adding "FlechetteLauncher_Conventional_iUpgradeSlots = 1" and the same but for Mag and Beam tiers to XComDarkForcesWeapons.ini as a test, but it still shows as un-upgradeable in game.

Do these weapons weapons upgrade into different tiers such as Mag and Plasma or do they all stay around Conventional tier damage?

Posted an update to address a weird issue that came out of nowhere where alt fire “weapons” would autoequip to the primary weapon slot.

Dark Trooper SPARK weapons and customizations (the ones used in Advent2Empire) will be my next project.

Disruptor Rifle is a "maybe at some point." I would like to have it, but it will require extra work and research compared to these other weapons and I have other things I want to work on first.

Holy crap man. This mod REALLY caught me off guard. I was expecting another bundle of guns that I'd only test then remove but... Christ man. Its VERY rare to see any guns with built in abilities, but you gave all of these authentic alt firing modes. The Heavy Repeater and Bowcaster are easily my favorite. Very well done!
