Sparring Partners (Training)

Description
Sparring Partners is a mod to allow your characters to spar with each other to increase their skills or even see who's better.

Does not require Import.

This works on any of your own characters with lore friendly custom dialogue.

Character states like blocking and passive are remembered by the sparring partner.

Prepare for sparring by being in a clear area with non lethal weapons because the battle is real and life n limb can be lost.

1. SAVE BEFORE DISMISSING A CHARACTER IS RECOMMENDED.
2. Set the characters states. (Blocking, passive)
3. Dismiss the character.
4. Talk to the character and choose sparing and how long.
(1 hour for recruits and 5 hours for recruits vs blocking gods.
Battle mode will make them defend their allies for group battle)
5. After the time has elapsed then the character will join the current squad.

DO NOT ATTACK UNPROVOKED OR THE FACTION WILL GO HOSTILE.


BUGS/ISSUES
1. If you save after dismissing a character and load that save then you wont be able to get your character back, Engine not saving something important and nothing i can do.

2. When you dismiss a character their faction is tech hunters so don't spar near other tech hunters otherwise you will have more sparing partners then you intended

3. If the character is unconscious when their spar timer runs out they will not return to squad. If this is the case talk to them and tell them to rejoin squad or heal them

4. If you defeat a character in combat they might lie there playing dead. Heal them and they will return to squad.
Or add them to the new CageOfShame and recruit them from there

5. They are hostile and defenses/others will engage them. Best to build a little arena or be away from defenses with a medic on standby

if you could attach this link to your workshop page it'd be great, lil tutorial on how to save guys with FCS in detail, got my main guy back after I couldnt recruit him back after sparring (game crashed so had to load up autosave)

Okay perfect, thanks! I also found out that they just hang out like normal citizens in the town you dismiss them in, I find it cool if I want a recruit but can't handle them at the moment. They just survive on their own.

Unfortunately the tools we get to mod with are pretty limited and i cant tell you how the engine handles dismissing with saving/loading or loading and unloading due to distance.

I hadn't tried dismissing them and then just leaving them as they go into Tech Hunter Shopping package by default and start walking away, so i guess Ruka has decided to become a Tech Hunter trader.

if you dont have any saves beforehand and you want Ruka back you can open the modding tools when launching the game, find Ruka and edit their dialogue package to have a recruit option.
use the new mod to recruit them then deactivate it after.

The problem is that I have two other characters out-of-party in the same city and they still work normally, they just hang around but I can still bring them back.

@KubedKiwi i think your issue is the same as eđgyŧoxickiđ, i just tried it and they are not talk-able if you load a save after dismissing them.

I guess the engine does not save something to do with the player on NPC's.

I fixed it by copy and pasting the platoon file from an earlier save into my current save.

The talk option doesn't seem to appear after loading into a game with a character already out of the party. I have them in the cage of shame and they're healed.

Ruka doesn't have dialogue after leaving her in Blackscratch and then coming back, It had worked previously and still does for other characters.
