Elective Leagues Expanded

Description
Band together with friends and allies to form a larger and more powerful realm

Sometimes when I play with friends we wish we could band our realms together and become an Empire instead of one of us having to conquer the other.
This mod allows you to do exactly that. Have two people with the Kingdom of Sweden and the Kingdom of Norway?
Form the Norse Federation and try to manage the new realm.

This mod allows you to do the following things:

Found an Elective League

This mod allows you to found an Elective League with other rulers.
They have to be allied to you and have a fairly good opinion of you to actually join your endeavour.
How it works:
Simply take the decision while bordering more than 1 ally with a decent opinion of you.
They will then get an event that lets them decide whether they want to join you or not.
If you have at least 2 co-founders (or 1 other player), you can create a higher title with the Elective League succession law.

Invite rulers to an existing Elective League

Once you have founded an Elective League with at least 2 allies you can invite even more rulers with a title tier one below you to the fold.
They will also have a 20 year non-aggression pact, just like normal co-founders.

Have a more interesting Elective Succession

This mod adds two new Elective Succession Laws:
Tribal Elective League and Elective League.
In an Elective League every ruler with a title tier of one step below the current ruler (King in case of Emperor a.s.o.) will automatically be an elector, while their most powerful vassal will be a Vassal-Elector.
Electors get 2 votes and Vassal-Electors get 1.
They serve as tie-breakers and they allow the Electors to overpower the current ruler in elections and more.

While close relatives and Electors can be candidates in an Elective League government, only Electors can be nominated in Tribal Elective Leagues.

Compatibility:

Mod last updated: 2021.11.20

Incompatible with:
-AFTOW (tested ~2020.08.xx)

Compatible with: (no guarantees though)
-ATEFF (tested ~2020.08.xx)
-HIP (tested ~2020.08.xx)
-Ck2+ & CleanSlate (tested 2021.11.20)
-only CleanSlate (tested 2021.11.20)

Files that are modified/replaced:
elder_stances.dds -> might conflict with mods that add new Elder Stances for Elective

For compatibility reasons I added CleanSlate as a dependency to the .mod file
This doesn't actually mean that you need to have CleanSlate installed.
It's just there so the game loads the mod correctly

Bug Reports and Suggestions

-None so far, be the person to change that ;)

I'll see what I can do.

Special thanks to jruderman

He's the creator of the original mod and has allowed me to modify it and make it multiplayer-compatible.

You don't need to download it to use this one though, but you can still check it out!

@SimplyFilms
Sadly no.
You can't take the decision or join an elective league as a merchant republic, nor can you change your succession law to Elective League once you convert your tribal league to a merchant republic.

Hey @smartini does this work with merchant republics as well? I'm planning an Amalfi run, and this would be a fun way to conquer Italy literally and economically! Either way this mod seems really cool, thanks for it!

Not a dumb question at all!
It's actually quite interesting, since I haven't implemented any special behaviour for those cases AFAIK.

Converting to feudalism only converts yourself and your succession law changes to gavelkind.
You can, however change to Feudal Elective League (just called "Elective League" in the law tab) with the usual succesion law change restriction (reigned for 10 years a.s.o)

In my limited testing, converting to a Merchant Republic converted my vassal-allies to a Merchant Republic as well and made them major houses.

Dumb questions those might be, but still: if i form a tribal league, can i convert to feudalism? Will my vassal-allies convert immediatly? Can i convert to republic and what would happen to my vassal-alies then?

@Dragonxxx
Glad you enjoy the mod :)
I've actually tried to make a ck3 version before and I do plan to make one at some point :ambition:
But right now I can't say when I'll actually get to it.

Hey! I remember using this mod so frequently when playing ck2 and loving it. Are there any plans to make a ck3 version of this? It would be so popular; I can't even imagine. :ambitious_trait::steamthumbsup:

@ancientnerd
You have to declare independence through the usual means (faction), so... kind of?
But there are no new special buttons or anything in that regard.

can you leave the electorate-league if you want to?

leave the launcher open while you subscribe to the mods you want. Then close and reopen the the launcher.

@mars

Sorry to hear about that.
Downloading the mod does work for me.
Is this the only mod you're experiencing this issue with?

The only thing I can say is that I've experienced the same thing before and the following steps seemed to fix it.

-Unsubcribe from this mod
-Delete "elective_leagues_expanded.zip" and "elective_leagues_expanded.mod.mod"
in your "Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod" folder
-Resubscribe to the mod
-Start the ck2 launcher (wait maybe a minute)
-Restart the ck2 launcher
-Repeat the those steps a few times

If that didn't fix it, maybe try the following:

I hope I was able to help you.
