Description
Spiff's Practical Engineered Solutions, a division of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, presents the AutoSprite space miner for trouble-free auto-mining utilizing the Path Auto Miner (PAM) script (ingame scripts must be enabled in advanced controls). The PAM script is pre-loaded in one of the ship's programmable blocks. Another programmable block has Whip's Block Renamer script, which is useful for quickly renaming all the ship's components to avoid "cross-talk" when operating several identical drone miners from the same station.

If you need a mutli-role capable PAM miner, consider the AutoSprite HE (Hydrogen Edition) miner that is capable of both space and moon (low-gravity) mining: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2299627345

An AutoMiner Printer Bay for semi-automated construction of the AutoSprite space miner is provided here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2305926680

AutoSprite has four optimally-spaced drills, and two medium and one large cargo container for ore storage. With realistic (i.e., 1-1-1) settings, the ore capacity of the cargo containers, connector, and four drills is 100 tons. Its four drill are equipped with conveyor sorters and ejectors to collect only ore (and ice) and dump stone. Comprised of only 156 blocks, AutoSprite is highly optimized to be a low-cost mining solution for a fully-automated mining process. AutoSprite has three large batteries for power. As a tunneler, AutoSprite clears a 10-meter square opening. Finally, the front-facing connector makes docking and ore-offloading a breeze! (Make sure you've included a conveyor sorter between the connector and station's cargo container(s) that is set to "drain all" so that the docked miner will automatically empty its cargo containers.)

NO MODS, NO DLC, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTION BUILDABLE!

{4} Marker Lights - on/off
{5} PAM Programmable Block - run "APPLY"
{6} PAM Programmable Block - run "START"
{7} PAM Programmable Block - run "STOP"
{8} Docking Connector - switch lock
{9} Ion Thrusters - on/off

NOTES FOR BUILDING WITH A PROJECTOR
AutoSprite is designed to be welded via a projector/merge block combination for an semi-automated manufacturing process using a ship printer.
1. As shown in the 8th picture, build a small-grid structure atop a projector with recess below the merge block to allow sufficient clearance for the ship's structure (rear lights).
2. Load the blueprint and set the projector's vertical offset to -7 and a forward offset of 1; the projector merge block should align with the projected ship's merge block (see the 9th picture).
3. Build the miner.
4. When complete, depower the projector's merge block to release the ship and take control remotely.
5. You're done! Rinse and repeat.

PROCESS FOR STARTING A NEW MINING EVENT
1. While sitting at your station's control station, and assuming an AutoSprite miner is docked to a connector, switch the lock on the connector to release the ship; this will allow you to access it via remote control.
2. Remotely connect with the AutoSprite miner, then depress {5} to begin recording your path to the ore deposit. Be sure to wait 3-5 seconds for the PAM script to establish "home" before you head out.
3. Depress {8} twice to reconnect, then disconnect from the connector, depress {2} to access the ship's front camera, then fly to your ore deposit location; put your ship at about the center of the visible ore deposit. Depress {5} again to lock the ore location with the PAM script.
4. Depress {6} to start the auto-mining process; you should see your ship move into position and start mining.
5. If you ship gets stuck (this sometimes happens because of overhanging rock), "STOP" the mining process by depressing {7}, depress {1} to select the drills, right-click the drills to clear away stone that's interfering with your miner, then depress {6} to start the mining process again. It'll pick up where it left off.

Nope, the AutoSprite miner will not work on any low-gravity moon. However, given the incentive to fill that gap, I've published the AutoSprite HE (hydrogen edition) miner. With the recent hydrogen rebalance, using hydrogen thrusters for mining vehicles is now viable. Here's the link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2299627345

thanks so much

It'll work on the moon, since there's no atmosphere, but I'm not sure the payload limit. Watch your buoyancy...when you start feeling sluggish, stop mining. I'll test it out...

hey, looks cool! can I use it to mine on the moon or only in space?
