Description
Features
This mod adds everyone's favourite ballcap-wearing, viper-befriending, tutorial-surviving Ranger to Operation Gatecrasher in the regular campaign.

By default, you'll get Jane Kelly (in either her opening cinematic casual outfit or classic Tutorial armour, you choose) as a Squaddie rank Ranger on Operation Gatecrasher. As well as being thematic, this adds some more tactical options on an otherwise pretty repetitive mission.

Pretty much everything about this mod is configurable: you can change Jane Kelly's class, starting rank, appearance, name, everything.

Requirements
None, although given this is a mod for Gatecrasher, it won't do much for an ongoing campaign.

Compatibility
It should be compatible with anything that doesn't completely replace the Gatecrasher starting squad. It uses the same method as Starting SPARK, so anything that works with this should work with too.

Recommended Companion Mods
  • Crasher Class by Kiruka: A custom class specifically for Jane Kelly for LWotC.

  • Intelligence Officer by shiremct: A custom class specifically for Jane Kelly for Proficiency Class Pack.

  • Rescue Denmother by Iridar: I referenced this mod extensively to figure out how to make this. It's a great mod in its own right, and it comes with a cosmetic set that looks a lot like Jane Kelly's casual clothes with armour and rigging, so it's also worth picking up if you want to give Jane a more stylish look than her grey tutorial armour.

I think it would be possible to add a command or prompt within the mod itself to search if there's already a character with the same name and use its model, no?

So if I already have Jane 'Quiet' Kelly in my character poool, will your mod use the one I already have with her armour, her class and head appearance?

yes you can change the armor there too. it literaly says :

; If true, Jane Kelly will use the custom appearance defined below
; If false, Jane Kelly will use her Tutorial appearance defined in XComGameData.ini

so change to false and she uses xcom armor

@tilarium There is a XComJaneKelly config file under : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\2336174862\Config
I don't think you can change the armor, though, but the starting class is here.

Hello,
I have used this mod for quite a while and it worked flawlessly so far.
I'm also currently trying to code a mod meant to add back the narrative part of the tutorial, including a rework of the Commander mission rescue (without all the forced tutorial inputs and explanations), and have already used your mod's code to spawn Peter Osei and Ana Ramirez : this part works so far, but, as I have reused almost everything, I was wondering if it would OK if I were to release it one day on the workshop.
Also, I haven't still resolved the case of Jane Kelly, but, as I am planning to have her spawn on the battlefield (instead of the team or the ship), I might have to integrate your mod for this (instead of using it as a dependency) : would that also be OK ?

Where does one go to configurable how Jane looks in Gatecrasher? Wanna start her off in some armour and change her specialty from Ranger to Intelligence Officer. Not finding it in the mod section of the options menu.

if you don't want to use either CC or IO the games tutorial default of ranger works perfectly for Jane (i'd also only get this mod if using IO as it's required otherwise just use the Demos&Replays character pool)

Great mod, though you can actually just add Jane Kelly from the Demos&Replays character pool into a non tutorial enabled game and it will keep all her unique interactions including the comments made by the chosen.

Right now the mod crates a duplicate in case you play with the tutorial.
