Description
I love robots. I've always loved robots. In the games I play I always tend go for robots. But I never really used SPARKs so now I hope to change that.

Iridar's SPARK Arsenal is a huge leap to the proper direction, granting SPARKs great variety of equipment you can mix and match to your hearts content. Where other classes excel in their dedicated areas, SPARKs can be the ultimate all-rounders fit for any situation when properly equipped.

To continue with that trend...

Modular SPARKs
  • No Promotions.
  • New inventory slots.
  • 22 New Abilities & Items.

No Promotions
SPARKs are robots, they do not learn with experience but instead work with the hardware they have. These robots are truly sums of their parts, so one freshly off the assembly line is just as good as one you have had for a long time.

New inventory slots
Instead of promotions granting abilities, they are now tied to modular parts you slot in your Modular SPARK. Instead of being stuck with skills you chose 10 missions ago, you can swap the modules around and build your own perfect war-machine for whatever situation you have at hand.
1 slot for the primary computer, 1 slot for the movement system, and 2 generic module slots. Additional module slots with more advanced armor.

22 New Abilities & items
22 New abilities to have fresh options for every situation. 22 New items to get the new abilities you equip in the new slots.

Proving Grounds projects
  • A basic set of parts available right away when you get your first SPARK. Some room to specialize.
  • Proving grounds project for an advanced set of parts once you reach plated armor. A lot of room to specialize.
  • Proving grounds project for the most powerful set of parts once you reach powered armor. Enough options to last a lifetime.
  • A project to rebuild a SPARK for considerably cheaper, if you manage to retrieve the power core of one destroyed in combat.

No economy changes for now. I believe SPARKs should be expensive but good enough to warrant the cost.

Suggestions
Iridar's SPARK Arsenal for the full modular loadout experience.
WotC Ballistic Shields for spark sized slabs of metal you can take cover behind.

Compatibility
  • Not intended to be ran with other large SPARK overhauls, such as Mechatronic Warfare or Project LASER so no guarantees things will work there. Balance will definitely be thrown off with the extra slots this mod gives.
  • Starting SPARK works but is most likely way too strong compared to regular soldiers, given the higher starting stats and the range of modules readily available.
  • Probably doesn't work mid-campaign.
  • I am not interested in LWOTC and I dont know to what extent it changes SPARKs. Anyone is free to make & publish a bridge if one is needed.

i have no torso option selectable i think this mod mixed with one of those mods that just add the same piece of armor instead of the mix and match ones did this!

Anyone know whether this mod can use with Covert Infiltration?

For anyone running LWOTC; once you unlock the correct project in the Proving Ground, completing it costs 10 alloys and 10 elerium, and will yield you one random module of that tier.

I have never tried running this without LWOTC so I'm unaware if that is intended.

Hey, just popping back to report that I've got the build Spark project to appear in the PG. Turns out it was an easy fix, all I had to do was use my bloody eyes. It was buried under a mountain of other projects added by a bridge mod for Weapon and Item overhaul attachment projects.

Apologies for wasting your time, and thanks for all of your mods h4ilstOrm, they're all must haves imo.

Cheers.

Hm, I'm at a loss then. I've checked the configs for mods I think may affect it, but I'm drawing a blank. I appreciate you trying to help, though

All vanilla projects should exist; this mod does not touch those.

It's possible it's PG overhaul, that mod changes how the projects are handled, in the sense that once you've researched one, the resulting item becomes available to build in Engineering. It's hard to confirm whether the issue occurs without the DLC mission enabled since I just finished that mission in my current campaign.

I received the Spark reward, and the module projects are all present, as well as the companion module mods that were made to accompany this one. Just no repeatable build spark project. I don't run any other spark related mods, or any lost tower mods.

It's possible that I'm misunderstanding this mod, though. Do you only get the rebuild spark once you've lost one? Or is there supposed to be a repeatable build spark project like in vanilla etc?

PG overhaul maybe? This mod doesn't change how you get sparks. It only adds a project to rebuild one for cheaper if you lose one in combat.
Do you run any other spark or lost tower related mods?

This could possibly be a daft question but I'm not seeing PG projects to build more SPARKs. I've just completed the Lost Towers mission, got my first SPARK, and everything seems to be fine, modules and all, just no projects to build more of them. I'm running Mec Troopers, PG overhaul and Spark Arsenal, I doubt these are conflicting but I do wonder what the cause could be.
