Extended Aquatics

Description
THIS MOD IS NO LONGER BEING MAINTAINED!
MY EXTENDED SPECIES MODS WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO: Galactic Diversity
_______________________________________________________________

Small mod adding additional aquatics themed content.

Contents
A new Origin and five new Traits!
Details in this Discussion Thread

From the Depths & Deep Dwellers
Your Species evolved in the deep and is highly specialized. Gain 4 Trait Points for a unique habitability drawback:
50% Habitability Ceiling on Planets without the "Crushing Depths" modifier. The new modifier is randomly spread across the Galaxy, increased chance on Ocean Worlds and bigger Planets. Additionally, the "Deep Ravines" modifier allows you to create a "Crushing Depths" modifier when terraforming planets into an ocean world.
There is no way of creating these modifiers as a player.

Amphibian
Have Larvae which require a humid environment. Available on wet climate start. Increased Pop Growth in wet climate. Reduces Pop Growth in non-wet climate.

Fish from the Sea
Always inviting other Spacefarers to listen to their story. Available on ocean world start. Increases Pop Happiness on Ocean Worlds.

Privateers
Fierce Sailors used to travelling and hunting in the sea or space alike. Available on continental and ocean world start. Improves your Defensive Armies and adds potential Admiral Traits "Seasoned Sailor" and "Heroic Whaler".

Biggest Fish
Your Species is strong due to its size. Available on ocean world start. Improves your Assault Armies and adds potential Leader Traits "Leviathan" and "Sea Dragon" but increases Pop Housing Usage and Food Consumption outside ocean worlds.

Balance
While Balance isn't the priority, I'd still like to find a decent compromise between Roleplaying Potential, Interesting Gameplay and Balanced Gameplay. So your help and feedback is always welcome if you are unhappy with any additions or changes I made.

Suggestions
Got any ideas, new features you'd like to see added to the game or improvements over mine, balancing advice or found a bug? Share your feedback in this Discussion Thread!

Compatibility and Patches
Should be compatible with most mods. Overwrites 00_planet_classes.txt. This only changes the way habitability on artificial and gaia worlds functions to allow habitability ceiling changes to also affect them. I recommend to load mods which also overwrite this file after mine. Effects relying on planet classes won't work with new planet classes added by other mods.
A patch for Planetary Diversity can be found here.

Indeed, so long. After neglecting these mods for *years* at this point, I will have to admit that I am not going to update any of my Extended Species mods any more. However, I am not just outright abandoning them.

I can, for the first time in years, confidently say that I have returned to Stellaris, and will be sticking around for long enough to start a new modding project: Galactic Diversity

Here you will find my newest take on Species Traits, updated for 4.0, supporting biogenesis tags, and over time most of the good stuff from the old Extended Species days will be integrated as well!
So long?

Any updates planned for 3.14?

there is a patch mod for that

This mod still works for me as of 3.11, and it's a small one but a favourite of mine. My only issue is when using Planetary Diversity, using the 'Aquatic World' which is functionally identical to the Ocean World removes the ability to use the Leviathan and Fish from the Sea traits.

*whereas a planet with both crushing depths and low gravity might have a 10% or so housing usage penalty to reflect the reduced habitable range in such a planet

Suggestion... The high gravity modifier should also be habitable by 'deep dweller' species as long as it isn't a desert.

I would also have a planetary decision for planets with high gravity or deep ravines, to fill in the deepest parts with water from an ice mining station if you have Hydrocentric unlocked. This would allow you to use your founding species more mid to late game rather than using surface based ~slaves~ species

can the starting ruler get the leviathan or the sea dragon trait?
