Display Cases

Beskrivning
Just in time for the new update, a way to display your precious plushies (and other items) ~~without the fear of them despawning or getting garbage collected!~~

This mod adds 2 types of display cases which will display their current inventory item. You can rotate the displayed items using pitch/yaw/roll controls in terminal or via toolbar actions. The block also contains a configurable light source which you can modify to ensure maximum viewing pleasure. PB interface should follow as well (because why not?).

Only one item (type) will be allowed (as only one gets displayed) at a time, stacks are allowed. The smaller version has a capacity of 100L and the bigger one 500L (the volume of an item shows in the tooltip that shows when you hover over the item in an inventory), to avoid items clipping the glass. Ores don't render properly so they are not allowed, ingots should work though!
The block must be powered for the item to be displayed. Grinding or otherwise destroying the block should spawn the item(s), right-click deleting the block in creative will destroy the block as well as the item.

It has been tested on dedicated servers and found to work properly.

Thanks to Valikai for the awesome model for Case 1 that inspired the script and for collaborating on making this thing work! Please be gentle (and send tips) about Case 2, it's my first time in blender xD (massive thanks to enenra for SEUT though!)

Thanks also to the awesome folks in the keen discord and especially Digi (who's always helpful and who I stole a sh*ton of code from)

Great mod.
I had the same issue with the plushie not loading but your tip to add credits worked.
I have been searching for a way to display plushies for quite a while.
Thanks

into a passage block? although inset does sound interesting...
I'm rubbish at blender though, gotta ask @valikai about that haha

Any chance at getting a variant of this block that is integrated into a passage block?

i will give this a go for my plushies

Can’t place either plushie, though I may need to bump it up in the load order

@Herr Doktor, there's toolbar actions, so you could lmake it spin with a timer block?

@numb Charlie: i only just understood the comment, but the block isn't piped at all (it's like a freight container/bed inventory where you have to access it via the window of the case)
Herr Doktor 27 aug, 2023 @ 19:18
It'd be cool if you could get items to spin while on display

I've tried this mod several times with different mods and it NEVER allows me to place anything inside them. It acts as though it's not piped into anything as it turns gray when I try to move anything into either manually or via conveyors.

I tried the trick where you move space credits into, then replace with a plushie but I can't even get the space credits in it at all.

In fact, I've attempted ores, ingots, tools, weapons, plushies, bottles and components; none of them will go in.

I'm assuming this is a conflict with other mods, but frankly, it's never worked for me on multiple different games with different modlists.

Any insight? How can I get this to work?

Ore models are rendered a little my dynamically that most other assets. By default ores show up as black spheres when rendered inside the case. I added them to the blacklist on release because of this issue.I don't believe we can adjust the cases to show the proper textures and meshes, otherwise they'd totally be in there.
