Fire Lancers - Cathayan Shock Troops

The Legions of Cathay are weary of defending and hunger for the glory of the charge. This mod gives Cathay a variety of new and much needed high impact shock troops to let cathay wage a more aggressive war. As a spiritual sequel to my Cathayan fireworks mod, Firelancers also takes inspiration from Ancient chinese gunpowder weaponry, such as the Fire Lance and its predecessor the Fire Arrow.


Contains 5 new units: Fire Lancers, Firelance warriors, Lion Gunners, Dragon Cavalry and the Fire Arrow Crossbowmen. Special thanks to Khamar for creating the lovely unit cards


Firelancers. A mid-high tier shock cavalry unit. Armed with a powerful precursor weapon that fires during the charge, they are excellent for disrupting a braced formation and crushing a flank. Very limited ammo, recruitable from the cavalry building (additionally requires basic gunnery building)


Fire Lance Warriors A dismounted version of the Fire Lancers. A versatile shock infantry unit, capable of delivering a devastating charge and also great for staggering an enemy charge with their own counter charge. Recruitable from infantry barracks (also needs gunnery building)

Dragon Cavalry A fast high damage missile cavalry unit, cannot fire while moving with very short range, but are reasonably capable in melee, making them a useful harassing unit throughout the campaign. Recruitable from the cavalry building

Fire Arrow Crossbowmen These crossbows have small rockets attached to the shafts, giving them fantastic range and flaming explosive damage. Their small unit size makes them quite vulnerable to counter fire and in melee but they have a high rate of fire and high damage output. Recruited from the gunners building

Lion Gunners The most defensive unit in the cathayan arsenal, the lion gunners are heavily armoured and excel at holding key defensive positions. with good positioning they can also be used to shatter a formation with their heavy firepower or stop a charge in its tracks but have a very slow reload rate.

This mod is made to fit within the vanilla game. It is not intended to be compatible with SFO, Radious or any other overhaul mods and should not be used with them. Please do not ask about submods for these because i do not support them. If you wish to make such a submod please ask permission first.

Other submods, such as translation submods are very welcome, provided they conform to the regular rules and etiquette.
