This mod adds a new Hero Class, the Paracausalist, from the Beyond Mortality mod! The Paracausalist arrives in the Hamlet alone, without any Ectomorph enemies added.

Note - Many of the Paracausalist's abilities are ideally suited to battling the Ectomorphs, so if you want the full Beyond Mortality experience, consider trying the complete mod!

Beyond Mortality adds a new hero class uniquely qualified to combat the eldritch powers on the rise at the Estate - the Paracausalist! A science-minded man wielding an experimental weapon system, powered by an enigmatic energy known as the Vril.

The Paracausalist has the means to deal heavy damage with his ranged abilities, though to sustain his damage output he must push his power source, the Vril Engine, to dangerous limits. He is also effective at disrupting and impeding the enemy party. His damage-dealing abilities are especially effective against Ectomorph-type enemies.

Combat Skills

Nucleo-Protonic Ray

OOOX I O+O+OX
Full-steam with strogon pulse.

A high-damage blast that strikes multiple targets.
Ranged AOE attack. Reduces attack power for several rounds.

Scanner Scope

OOOX I OOOO
P.C.E. readings right off the top of the scale.

Identifies and quantifies the target with precision technology.
Lowers enemy DODGE and Movement Resist. Removes Stealth.

Short Controlled Burst

OOOX I OOOX
Neutronized. System shut.

Hammers the target with a burst of energy from the Vril Engine's particle thrower.
Powerful ranged attack. Reduces enemy SPD.

Electroplasmic Overcharge

OOXX
We really haven't had a completely successful test of this equipment.

Pushes the Vril Engine to the limit. Useful to offset the drain from offensive abilities.
Increases DMG and CRIT. Free Action. Cooldown 2. Chance to inflict Stress and Blight.

Attractor Tether

OOOO I XXOO
Make sure the streams don't cross.

Uses a neutronic-quantum tether beam to ensnare the target, yanking them out of the shadows.
Reduces enemy SPD. Pull 2. Chance to shuffle the Paracausalist.

Photonic Flash Flare

XXXO I O+OXX
Back off. I'm a scientist.

Charges the particle thrower with strong photons, causing a flare of light.
Reduces enemy ACC. Removes stealth. Back 2.

The Goligher Cage

OOXX I O+O+O+O
Don't look directly at it.

Briefly unleashes a horrific entity contained within a mysterious arcane artifact.
1 use per battle. Shuffles enemy party for several rounds. Lowers enemy SPD and DMG. Causes Stress to the party. The Paracausalist takes increased Stress Damage for the rest of the battle.

Scientific Explanation

They are paracausal extra-reality manifestations, nothing more.

Increases party's Stress resist.

Tend to the Engine

Cost: 3
Hrmm. Yes. Good thing I caught this before it became a real problem.

Increases the Paracausalist's damage for several battles.

Trepanning

Cost: 1
No interfering colleagues to stop me this time.

Greatly reduces the Paracausalist's stress. Chance to damage Paracausalist. Chance to inflict Stress on the party.

This mod adds a ton of useless trinkets that give bonus damage vs Ectomorphs even if you don't have them installed. This is my favorite modded class by a landslide but it would be amazing if you could remove these when you get the time, also change the damage bonuses on the character to be for the Unholy type. Otherwise, amazing mod, super cool class, great job.

I know this mod has been out for a while, but I'm surprised no one has commented about the fact that his effects still specify ectomorphs when this version exists to be played without them. I would've expected that it might have been changed to maybe have him work against unholy instead, so that aspect of him isn't just rendered null

is it possible to download this version of the beyond mortality mod and disable the original version without losing your save file's current Paracausalists? I find the ectomorphs kinda annoying but I don't wanna lose my Paracausalists

I know it's late, but if you do end up editing it, I must ask you refrain from having the Narrator say the "Order of the Blue Flame" or the "Vril capacitor" since the style based on the style in the narrator speaks, there is a certain vagueness to it.

@Ixmore I do like it! I was just writing rough ideas, you made them sound like they could be actual voice lines! I'd just swap mentions of the 'Society' for the word 'Order', since the society is called the Order of the Blue Flame.

3.He continued his studies with the Society, working on his machine in secret. Comparing his private studies to the studies of Society, he discovered that the artifacts collected by the society could allow him to face the things beyond.

4.Opening Line: "He has attracted the ire of both the order and the things beyond; he would have to work quickly." Ending Line: "It is done, now mankind has a fighting chance."

5. Brethren of the Society were sent to recover the artifacts and to dispatch the offender. They found workshop burnt and littered with papers; the artifacts nor the thief was no where to be found.

@Golden Yak it could be possible to incorporate it with AI voices now being a thing and I think narrator's voices has a certain monotone to it that shouldn't be too hard to replicate. Also, If you don't mind me making a few adjustments to the sequence, here's my correction.

1.A student of the sciences, he sought out long forgotten practices thinking himself a pioneer. Nevertheless, his research papers had caught the attention of a secret society. Through a common colleague, they inducted him and entrusted him to explore a recently excavated ruin.

2.I don't know what the starting line should be but the ending line should be "He returns to the order seemingly empty handed, withholding the fork from his superiors, overcome with visions of a glorious machine."
