My new mod which includes these two units is now up. It has everything this mod has and more, including Unrad Grimbeard and new textures for the units, among other things.

I will not continue updating this mod.

Description

A specialised form of miner unit whose skills have been frequently honed in the long running skirmishes with Orcs, Goblins and Skaven. They wear heavy armour and armed with double-handed picks.

This mod adds a new unit to the Dwarfs called 'Excavators' and a RoR version called 'Unrad's Excavators'. Excavators are recruited from the main building, Dwarf Keep, at tier 3 and above and receive all appropriate buffs from Lords, Heroes and tech-trees.

Better armour, a tad slower and Wallbreaker. Send a couple of these units up to a wall and watch it crumble.

Was first mentioned in Citadel Journal #19 as an unofficial unit, so not really canon but still loreful in my opinion.

My very first mod! Perhaps nothing special compared to many other mods out there but I'm still proud of this achievement and I have to start somewhere, right?

Version 1 - Mod added
Version 1.1 - Removed unnecessary/forgotten about row of data from one of the tables.
Version 1.2 - RoR Unrad's Excavators added
Version 1.3 - Corrected a wrong key number which prevented Ekrund Miners from appearing in the RoR pool. Thanks to Reichmar for finding that out!
Version 1.4 - Fixed wrong 'Keys' in the recruitment table. Excavators replaced Miners in the recruitment pool making miners un-recruitable. Credit: PeskyBees!

Future Plans

A Regiment of Renown called 'Unrad's Excavators' and then a Legendary Hero called Unrad Grimbeard. Will probably upload a new mod with all of these combined.

Unrad Grimbeard along with the units in this mod with better balanced and new textures! You don't need this mod anymore, really.

Excavators, Unrad's Excavators and Unrad Grimbeard(future Legendary Hero I'm currently working on) were named in Games Workshop's magazine 'Citadel Journal' #19 as an unofficial unit. I would say they're very much lore accurate.

The Citadel Journal 19 can be found as an PDF if you search for it on google. :)

Sorry Phyrex, I noticed one more thing during my play through today. If you are in tier 3 settlements or above you can no longer recruit the basic miner. It seems the Excavators replaces the option entirely. Not sure if it was intended or not :)

I think it'd be helpful to put in the mod description if they get any buffs from tech or skill trees!

I will look into it.

Edit: I just did a quick campaign with Thorek and the Excavators recieve the buffs from his skill line. And they do have the correct Unit Set in the .pack file(they have the "Miner tag").

Kazador is playable through Mixu's mod, right? Probably some conflict. Don't have more time to look into it tonight, will take a closer look tomorrow. Sorry :(
