The Sowoboe Bugs are a genetically modified isopod created by Heather Sowoboe, to give rimworld peoples a hardy and sturdy mount for traveling, trade and exploration.

They are trainable to defend, haul and rescue and are capable in a fight though less so in prolonged combat.

Their sturdy shells are long and broad with plenty of room for saddlebags and rider. 14 legs give them surprising speed for their size and allow them to carry immense loads.

Sowoboe Bugs also produce a nutritious milk, and their shells are shed every 3 days allowing good colonists to harvest their strong chitin.

Later additions to this mod will add new types of Sowoboe Bugs, a new Sowoboe Rancher Faction that will trade in Sowoboe Bugs, and possibly incorporate patches for other mods.

THESE ARE CONSIDERED OVER POWERED BY DESIGN. Do keep in mind that Sowoboe Bugs are extremely overpowered by design and will either eliminate your entire colony when one goes mad or make your world much easier with their simple strength in combat. A patch to make them more balanced with Vanilla is being considered as an additional module.



- There have been some reports of Sowoboe Bugs apparently making granite mountains disappear. This appears to have been fixed as I cannot get it to reproduce currently. Please report any missing mountains.
- Sowoboe Bugs can heat up a room exceedingly quickly. This isn't really a bug more a feature but its come up a few times and I wanted it known here. Their body size is large enough that their ambient heat can act like a heater in small rooms.



*All future major additions will be their own expansion mods to this one.

- Add a War Sowoboe Bug made to take heavy hits and deal moderate damage, but slower and unable to carry as much weight.
- Add a BoomBoe Bug a Sowoboe Bug variant that creates chemfuel. Unable to haul, considerably less intelligent and dangerous to use as a caravan animal, these Boomboe Bugs will mostly just produce chemfuel and chitin.
- Add a Sowoboe Rancher Faction who starts friendly with player colonies. Focused on trading and ranching their Sowoboe Bugs and their products, they should allow easy access to these wonderful variants even if you do not live in a biome they frequent.
- Add a smaller faster but much less capable of hauling jungle variant of the Sowoboe Bug. Very very fast and still usable on the road, shows up in larger herds but is less effective compared to the standard Sowoboe Bug.
- Add a Neutramine (or however thats spelled) Sowoboe Bug, genetically modified to produce a primary component of medicine.
- Add a Devilwoboe Bug, a Sowoboe Bug variant that produces devilstrand. Good for hot biomes.
-Add a Compowoboe Bug that produces components. Solitary and rare.
- And many other concepts that I'm not sure exactly how to do yet so I've not included them here!

Does the chitin work as an airtight material for gravships? I'm considering slowly rebuilding it like Theseus' ship.

My game bugged when I was making a caravan that had a sowoboe bug, and now it has a melee weapon (dragon horn from dragons descent, not too bad of a weapon) and I can't even unequip it

Thanks to melee animations I can have it execute my enemies and its just funny to me to have a bug executing people

@StockSounds, I'll be honest I often think about making them just a tad less common. But then I have a herd of them get pissed off by the raid I couldn't possibly have handled on my own at the time it happened and I'm just like... maybe I'll just forget that...

These things are so splendidly overpowered for how common they are, so much so that one single sowoboe went mad and it took out two of my colonists, injured one, and I couldn't kill it without use of a gauntlet turret.
