Metallurgy (Now with 100% more OP workshops!)

Kuvaus
BETA - use at your own risk, this is my first time screwing around in DF raws beyond the usual 'time to make sandy loam count as sand because I'm lazy'.

The mod currently adds two workshops, both for ore/metal processing, both more efficient than 'vanilla' recipes.

Ore Grinder
The 5x3 Ore Grinder is designed to, well, grind ores.
It won't quite double them but it is guaranteed to increase yield on average.
It produces 'processed' boulders of 'pure' metal ore at about 1.6x
Output depends on the 'quality' of ore it's fed, with some (e.g. tetrahedrite) likely to also produce by-products.

There's also a (probably even less balanced) recipe for grinding bones down into a flux stone.
Which is even less realistic, but these are DWARVES we're talking about here; Armok is no doubt pleased by grinding down bones into true dorf steel.

Blast Furnace
The 5x5 Blast Furnace is designed for your pig iron & steel needs.
Meant to be representative of an 'industrial' blast furnace.
It is very efficient in flux- and fuel-costs for making pig iron, and more efficient flux-wise for steel.
The 'downside' is the large batch sizes (6 processed iron boulders for pig iron, or 4+4 iron + pig iron for steel)

This is definitely beyond 'normal' balance, like it says it increases ore/metal yield for a relatively small amount of effort & building cost.
In the future I'd like to expand on the metallurgy aspect - dwarves with bessemer steel furnaces??? - and probably increase the effort involved in actually getting increased yields like this.

Since this adds reactions (recipes), buildings and mats, new worlds will be needed to actually get any updated features.
And of course you can only *add* a mod to a new world as well.
Bugs & Feedback
Please leave comments etc. on desired features. It's pretty barebones at the moment.
I am aware of some graphics issues (namely grey pixels on the blast furnace) but until I can find a good guide for how the material-colouring actually works for workshop sprites I'm kinda in the dark on fixing it.
For now if it bothers you (kinda looks like smoke??) I'd recommend building these from grey-ish materials.

Dumb Q, but does the Ore Grinder need a power source?

ok, so it doesn't show up in experimental.

probably a weird comment but if you look at the vanilla_descriptors_graphics folder in the raws theres an image thats just a long line of colors.

The top line of pixels is the color palette the game is looking for, and then it goes down to the corresponding pixel in the same spot on the row that is defined by palette_default.txt. If you color using the shades in the top line of palettes.png it will translate correctly

Magma Furnace and Powered Grinder maybe?
If not already in the works that is >.<

this also conflicts with one of these:

Smelt Ore by Product
Transparent Glass Floors
Any Metalsmithing
The Language Overhaul

not sure which it is but taking these mods (as well ass training hall) out of my mods list has fixed it and i can now build the shops.

It would be kind of funny to have a dwarf just randomly fall in by accident and get ground up into fertilizer (assuming the ore is getting put in the top and the ground ore is pulled out the bottom).
On a side note, I think it would be better to make the ore grinder be a multi-part structure powered by something like a windmill. You would have a drop location one level up where the ore would fall into an item chute, where it then gets ground up and spat out underneath. Also, it would be nice to have it also grind up rotten flesh/food/dead bodies/bones into fertilizer.

It would be awesome if they required power

For some reason no workshops from mods show up in my build menu, but their "options" show up in the "stone use" screen, whereas it tells me I can grind ores. Any ideas?

can you make a magma blast furnace? what about an ore autogrinder that uses power from windmills/watermills?

seems i can place blast furnace if don't manually select materials, aka use closest material
