Lima Shay Class B v2.3.2

Description
The most well-known geared steam locomotive in the United States, the Shay was designed for use on extremely steep grades, extremely tight curves, and poor-quality track. Though they were not fast by any means, Shays were able to pull loaded cars up grades as steep as 14% and navigate 50-foot radius curves with ease due to the type's power and design.

This model is based on a "Balloon"-type 42-ton standard gauge Class B Shay with three cylinders and two trucks, though in a fairly general sense, rather than depicting any one particular locomotive or configuration. It is mostly based on Shay 2172 preserved at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon, but features of other Shays were also incorporated into the model.

Both the wood-fired and oil-burning versions of this locomotive are available, each with the appropriate tender configuration and smokestack. The wood-burning variant is available with wood piled high on top of the tender or merely in a small pile in the center.

This pack includes a Train Mod in a generic black-and-gold scheme, as well as Train Mod Liveries depicting Shay #3 of the Serro Geo Alpine Rail Link and Shay #207 of the Geo-thermal Tranz Alpine (or GeTA) Railway. The latter is oil-burning while the other two are wood-burning, and there are a few additional minor variations between them. A narrow-gauge variant is also included in the generic paint scheme.

Credits

This is a ground-up (rails-up?) remaster of Globin's original Shay train mod, and was originally based on that model. Additionally, thanks to Globin for modifying the piston animation to have the proper spacing!

The spark arrestor mesh in the wood-burner's smokestack is modified from the Transcontinental Railroad Pack.

The cab and tender are originally based on those for the official Steam Berkshire, the headlight and various details along the boiler are modified from the Steam Flyer, and a few other details are modified from the Steam JGR. The fuel logs are modified from the official log flatcar.

Audio for this mod is taken from Cass Scenic Railroad Shays #2 and #4, both for the whistle (a Lunkenheimer 3-Chime) and the stack chuffing sound when running at high speed. Other audio effects are modified from the official steam locomotive sounds.

Livery templates are available here (UV layout)[drive.google.com] and here (colored shapes)[drive.google.com]. Both the wood and oil-burner versions use the same template.

Do not redistribute this mod or any of its assets without my express permission.
Permission is not required for liveries, spec edits, etc. as long as they are posted as Train Mod Liveries.

Thank you! It's really a cool feeling and I never expected to be at this point.

I want to wish both you, and Globin a congratulations on this mod, having officially became part of the Rolling Line locomotive roster.

Hey, the links for making liveries is broken, do you have another link?

Hmm, dunno what might be up with the water tank, unless the problem is that it doesn't want to separate from the main body mesh (in which case I'm afraid you'll have to separate it manually).

As for the animation, that's the reason I didn't try to do a 3-truck one myself actually. If you don't want to bother with trying to figure out articulation, I think you should be able to just extend the mesh of the driveshaft as far back as you want. As far as actually trying to make it flex in curves and stuff, I've got absolutely no clue how to do that.

Not directly in-game, but you can copy the stack model from the GeTA version's mod folder (file should be named "ShayB_stack_oil") into your Custom Assets folder and then replace the default stack mesh with that in the in-game modding menus.

Alternatively, it looks - to me, at least - like the Dixiana (Roaring Camp #1) matches pretty closely to the GeTA spec as-is, with the narrower stack and the oil bunker in the tender. You could just take the GeTA version and delete the window bars mesh in-game, and then go from there.
