Combat Overhaul Legacy

This is my project of revival and development of the most complex and advanced weaponry mod.

Disclaimer: I do have all the rights to publish this as my own mod, for the original creators, Knarrenbluntz and M12, both allowed me to do so. I am also not willing to deal with any sort of reputation and legacy they left in the community.

Whats it all about?

Combar Overhaul is a series of mods that focuse on reworking barotrauma's Gunplay.
A load of new mechanics are introduced to make it more realistic and tactical, yet enjoyable and satisfying.


Original Idea

Combat Overhaul focuses on decreasing Time-To-Kill(TTK) on both humans and creatures creating a new fast-paced relentless combat environment with high demand for skill, precision and tactic. Mod provides its players with lots of ways to customize their weapons and equipment with upgrades, attachments, different calibers, ammunition types and new perks.
Variety of gear and equipment ensures that everyone will find something for themselves, whether it would be blowing everything up with rocket launchers, sneaking up on enemies with suppressed weapons and a stealth suit or ripping and tearing their way through Europa with a classic-fashion boomstick.
Any tactic is viable, as long as you have one!
You are given a lot of tools to play with but be patient and dont expect to get everything best from the start. More and more gear becomes available as campaign progresses.

Whats new?

Combat Overhaul Legacy maintains the core idea of the mod, focusing on quality of execution and engaging mechanics, like recoil, inventory-based customization, jamming and magazines that now have to be manually loaded with bullets. On top of all that i added an equipment upgrading system, allowing you to customize your gear pieces, like diving suits, body armor and helmets. I also bring in the idea of gunfire concussion and hearing protection, to further increase the immersiveness of this mod.

Download it and test it all yourself on the Shooting Range that comes with this mod and is accessible through submarine editor. Security teams and Captains also have Guidebooks on them that will provide you with basic knowledge on mods main mechanics.

User's Guide

  • Can COL be added to an already going campaign? - Yes it can be, but all your weapons would be replaced. It is recommended to start a new campaign for better experience.
  • What mods is COL incompatible with? - Practically none, except for other COs, as long as you keep it above weaponry mods and below medicine mods. Also dont forget to look for patches, maybe there are some...

  • What mods does COL go well with? - Barotraumatic, Dynamic Europa, Extenders, mods that focus on adding new creatures, missions, outposts and anything else that is not weapons or equipment.
  • What if i experience lag? - Try getting rid of unused magazines and weapons by deconstructing them, put your guns into containers, check console(F3 by default) for errors. If the issue remains, deattach Barrel Modules from weapons for that round.

Hello, dear developer. I found a really cool-looking red knife called "Murza" in the game files, but I couldn't find any crafting recipe for it in the game. Could you tell me how to obtain this weapon? Is it only available through exploration?

@M12 its a rule i use because default human are way to ugly to look at for hours so very much isn't a rule some of us do not play this game with default skins overrides defeat the point

Is this compatible with Enhanced Armaments? I'm not sure whether EHA is a combat overhaul or really just a weaponry mod.

@Soft Head thats just a weird rule you enforce on yourself for no good reason :)
Human overrides exist for balancing reasons. If you worry about compatibility, read the mod's steam page.

I love the mod my only issue is that I cant get the weapons of the npcs I kill in outposts

i like the guns but the head overrides and human changes are a no go
no expections but this would be nice mod as a gunpack esp for the upcoming DLC with being able to defend outposts and such

Например для ТП можно в characterdata сменить requireditem items="hmgammo" на requireditem items="calyxanide", и у вас в ТП будет вместо обоймы ТП заряжаться каликсанид. А т.к. это всё в предмете хранится, то обновляется оно лишь созданием НОВОГО предмета, которому и будут присвоены настройки из мода. В редакторе у вас неизбежно новые будут, если вы их только что поставили в редакторе.

(и да, это значит, что будучи хостом серва можно сделать себе разрядник, который не тратит аккум (или юзает этанол, например) и стреляет как миниган, просто нужно отредачить файл с ним)

После обновы просто попробуйте в редакторе лодок всё то, что у вас не работает. Если там сработало - проблема не с модом, а с барой. Она ваши вещи хранит с параметрами внутри этих вещей. Когда Астра мне сделал разрядник с быстрым кд и повышенным потреблением энергии, то на разряднике у меня вообще сразу 2 перезарядки было, и засчитывало только вторую - ванильную. После крафта нового разрядника всё норм стало.

@Addeymod не знаю в чем может быть проблема. После апдейта я дал всему двуручному оружию тег mediumitem. Такое в контейнеры обычно не ложится. Однако есть у них и тег weapon и mountableweapon - особые теги для контейнеров, что способны вмещать ТОЛЬКО оружие. (такой слот есть у бандольера в коле и с ним все работает прекрасно). Так что навернео проблемы со стороны рюкзаков.
