Description
What does this mod do?
This mod edits the Changeling's campaign starting script. Change some of his/her/its schemes to more stable version, intend to avoid schemes been cancelled by unknown reason in half way. Also reduce boring repetitive work in schemes. There is no significant overhaul change, player's experience should be similar as vanilla.

Why make this mod?
It is really annoying that I can find some schemes in my list has been Cancelled, no reasons, no explanation.
First I though it is my mod conflict. Until I found other people post same the issue on discussion. I have to say this DLC is not only the problem of the price, but also low quality.
As a legendary lord's core game play mechanics, Schemes is partly made by generic mission in the game. Perhaps you remember during the game especially in RoC you would receive some random mission like raze or sack the settlement in the list or kill an enemy lord in battle. And sometimes these missions would be cancelled, because target disappeared or whatever some unclear reasons. They only provide some money rewards so not too many people would noticed.
But for Changeling, this will become super frustrating. I found if Grmigor be defeated by other, and disappear on map for few turns, his scheme will be cancelled. It wants me sack Cathay's coastal settlement, but then it is 'randomly' cancelled because someone destroyed one before me or the logic problem when owner's faction confederating or any 'who knows?' reasons.
After checked some documents, I found these mission types are inherited from legacy TW games, I guess no one going to fix them any more, and currently I don't have ability to write large customised scripts. So I altered those problematic schemes into similar ones, but less likely have Cancel problems. Also, some boring repetitive work has been tweaked down to let player pushing forward quicker.

The Mod has Changed
  • Every scheme like "Slay XXX legendary lord in battle", has been substituted into Destroy Faction or Obtain XXX's form. Now you need to destroy Imrik and Grombrindal's factions, and obtain Grimgor's form.
  • Every scheme like "Raze or Sack x settlements includes: ..." has been changed. Now you need:
    Raze or Sack any 9 Cathay settlements.
    Sack Oak of Ages,
    Sack Khemri or Black Pyramid
    Destroy Yvresse and Tiranoc
    Infiltrate Citadel of Dusk, Great Turtle Isle, The Star Tower.
  • All schemes that require defeat X armies from a specific race, has been reduced to 9.
  • Win X land battles in a region also reduced to 9, and does not require land battles(require army vs army outside settlement in vanilla) any more, since most time enemy armies love to hole up in settlement. (This is a scripted mission, so if you use other language, the mission description isn't changed)

It works fine for me so any issue is likely caused by another mod

@DarkthShadow Just tried it, and it looks like with the current version of the game, it generates a separate set of schemes that are still able to be completed, but the list only shows all of the original ones, which are all listed as canceled :steamsad:

doesn't work for the naval blockade or loot the pyramids schemes. These have been documented as bugged for 9 months, how has no one fixed this yet

The main reason some of the schemes fail is because they are impossible to complete. This usually happens when you have to destroy a certain faction to complete it (Grombrindle's faction comes to mind). If that faction dies, you fail the scheme. It's frustrating.

@Javik The Witchwood one is bugged without the mod. I came here looking for a bugfix for this particular scheme as my game crashes when I sack the witchwood.

sacking the witchwood crashes my game with this on which is sad cause that is probably the best out of all the scheme buffs (+10 piercing damage to all units)

Yes, it's still needed. I've updated and used it for several changeling campaigns.
