Description
Marx, the Cosmic Jester from the Kirby franchise, comes to Rivals of Aether! Marx is a floaty character with powerful moves and great stage control!
This was a requested character for Bandee! If you're interested in having me make a character just like this one, then feel free to contact me!

If you like this, consider leaving a thumbs up for support!

Check out the rest of the roster!

Moveset

Neutral Special
Marx gets on his beach ball! Can move around and jump while on top of the ball, and the ball can be kicked as a projectile at any time. The kick can be angled in many directions, and if you press parry while on top of the ball, the ball can also be stored in a passive state and used for later!

Side Special
Marx charges up his huge laser attack! Takes a while to charge, but will also passively charge if Marx damages opponents or parries attacks, and the charge can be stored.
When charged, Marx can unleash a devastating laser attack! If Marx floats off-screen at this time, he will also reappear at the center of the stage in USpecial state!
Additionally, if partially charged, Marx can choose to fire a weaker ice projectile instead.

Up Special
Marx flies upward, but if the button is held (or you hold down/parry at the start), Marx will dive downward into the ground. While in the ground, Marx is invincible and can move around, before coming back out with a surprise attack!
Also, if this move is started on the ground, Marx can dive in and out quicker!

Down Special
Marx charges up a powerful attack, with which attack depending on charge! The charge can be stored, though only partially.
If charged somewhat, Marx can use the vein attack from Smash Bros Ultimate for some good damage that covers a wide area.
If charged halfway, Marx can use a small version of the black hole attack, sucking in opponents and projectiles. The black hole stays a short while on it's own, allowing Marx to attack along with it!
However, at full charge, Marx can unleash the full black hole attack, far more powerful than the smaller one!

Marx comes with his own stage; Milky Way Wishes, his arena from Kirby Super Star!
Extras
- Marx can use strong attacks both in the air and on the ground! Charging these strong attacks also has additional effects!
- DAir is a chargeable move! At no charge Marx spits out a ball, but if partially charged Marx can plant seeds! Seeds will become thorny vines shortly after, just like in his boss fight, which is great for stage control! Full charge however, becomes the ice ball attack!

I remember how hyped I was when I first saw this cuz Marx is my favorite kirby character. and the moveset is great but the only problem i have is the black hole makes my game lag so hard but that might be cuz im on McDonald's wifi

Only just found this mod earlier today and have to say, he's super well designed as a character that feels like a playable boss while still being relatively balanced. Lots of skill expression and interesting mechanics.

The only major problem I've noticed after playing him for a day is that the punishment for some moves getting parried seems off. His ball from Neutral Special (and I think uncharged d-air) getting parried and putting you into hitstun seems way off. The ball can already be reflected by hitting it with any hitbox, which isn't that hard, and plenty of other characters have non-committal projectiles. Then in the opposite direction, his F-Strong only reflecting one projectile which knocks him out of the attack instead of putting him in hitstun seems way off. It's a very powerful Strong with good range, so not being able to punish when you parry it doesn't make any sense.

Aside from that I'm enjoying him a lot more than I was expecting. Great stuff.

Commits every single cardinal sin you could possible make in designing a fighter who's fun to fight against. Damn fun to play as though.

@champagne.daniel
I understand you're excited about this idea, but no need to post it so many times and on so many unrelated characters haha.

Well, full charge DStrong isn't really considered a good option usually. Maybe in an edgeguard situation it could work, but that's about it aside from catching the opponent off-guard (assuming they haven't seen it before).

The reason for it not being that great is that Marx is wide open afterwards and you can just jump over the attack easily, so just do that haha.

this is a very good character, but
His "down strong" is way to powerful (it's attack is way to big for it to still do full damage and make him invulnerable, and it also charges way to fast)

how do u activate his op boss form
FelixBlobDev  [author] 17 Jan @ 10:42am
@Dr, Afternoon N.
Just charge it to the halfway point (where the middle line indicates), then press Attack while in the charging state. Unless you're installation is bugged or anything like that, then that should be all, haha.
