L4D2A Arcade Voice Files Patch (Read Description)

Description
This is a patch about the voice files for the survivors of the Japanese Arcade version of Left 4 Dead 2. What this cointains is basically the audio caches.

Due to engine's technical limitations, right now this is the only solution to have new authentic audio files working without distortions or issues.

Unfortunately, simply subscribing to this addon will not suffice. The engine will not read the audio.cache file. You must extract it directly inside the directory of Left 4 Dead 2.

# HOW TO GET THE FILE:

There are two ways to do so, one is quicklier.

[1] Download the addon, search for it inside your workshop folder inside Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/workshop directory and unpack the contents somewhere on your computer.

[2] Download the already unpacked files from gamemaps, here is the link: https://www.gamemaps.com/details/30945

# HOW TO INSTALL:

For those who don't know what to do with the file audio.cache

This file is needed for all sounds to work and be played during gameplay. For those wishing to have complete new sounds in the game they must go through the tidious waiting time of rebuilding the audio cache through console.

This patch will save you a lot of time..

This is how to install and unistall:

# INSTALL

[1] : Open your audio directory inside: common/steamapps/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound

[2] : Replace the audio.cache file with the new one inside the winrar folders i have provided.

[3] : Chose the right audio.cache file: inside the install folder you will find two additional folders, each contains a different version, for those wishing to play with only the Arcade Survivors they must replace the original file with the "Without Japanese Styled Music" variant. For those wishing to play with both the Arcade Survivors and my Japanese Styled Music mod togheter, they must replace the original file with the "with Japanese Styled Music" variant.

# UNISTALL

[1] : Go back to the winrar you have downloaded, i have provided the original files backup.

[2] : Open the unistall folder inside the winrar and replace the file inside of the audio directory: common/steamapps/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound with the one inside of the winrar.

Thats it.

Please Enjoy.

The cache is a little file that needs to be rebuilt each time a new file gets changed of the game. You might want to check out my Rising Sun mod package, which find a some-what solution to all this ordeal and it comes with simple instructions how to install it (Does not replace game files, except for one file really, which has a backup copy already in the package) but not if you only want the Japanese voices

So what exactly does the sound cache include? Is it for izzasou's voices? Only replacements for the L4D2 survivors or for L4D1 survivors, too? And what about the NPCs?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I couldn't find any info in the description.

To make them appear exclusively on yama you would need another mod, some script files. I have taken down the project and i'm rebuilding it from scratch, i considered it to be too "convoluted" to have new survivors to play on a single campaign.

This is the old file, you would need to extract the files to get the modified audio.cache to replace the original inside "left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/sound" folder. If i remember correctly you also would need to download my "Japanese Styled Music" soundpack.

As you can see it's really convoluted and bothersome to install, that's why i'm rebuilding it in a way that would be simplier to do so. As for now i have extracted all the files from the "Left 4 Dead 2: Rising Sun" project and uploaded them separately : )

Hello , I've been trying to get the arcade characters to play in the Yama map but for some reason it didn't work, did I did something wrong?
