B42 Rain's Axes & Blades

Description
This mod adds some cool new axes & long bladed weapons to PZ! It doesn't overwrite anything that's base PZ stuff, so it shouldn't cause issues with any other mods that also stay true to the base PZ code.

This is a work in progress, just like B42 unstable itself.



List of new stuff

Trait: Sword Enthusiast
"You collect and maintain swords on the regular." +1 Long Blade, +1 Maintenance. -4 points. Thanks to Steam user 운빨좆망겜 for the suggestion!

Bush Machete
A very well crafted Bush/Latin style carbon steel machete. Durable and sharp!
Curved Machete
Not quite a hawkbill, but still a hooked-blade machete that's just a bit longer than the other machetes.
Sawback Machete
A true multitool! You can hack zombies to pieces with it, and you can use the hard toothed saw blade to turn logs into planks. Leave your saws at home if you find one of these! (You'll still need a hacksaw to saw metal, duh)
Bush Machete (Long)
A two-handed long-handled version of the Bush Machete for all your chopping needs!

Hatchet
A run-of-the-mill carpenter's hatchet.
Bearded Hatchet
A more viking-style carving hatchet.
Axe (Fiberglass)
Similar to both the fire axe and the wood axe, but with one HUGE improvement. The handle is made of nylon-fiberglass composite which makes it exceptionally durable! The downside being that once you do break this fine tool, wood glue won't help you repair it...
Axe-Maul
An absolute behemoth, this massive splitting axe is exactly what your woodcutting efforts will need. It also has a nylon-fiberglass handle and because of its size and weight, you can bust through a wall with this thing! Just like a sledgehammer, but better!
2 different types of Wakizashi
Let's be honest, we all want to find a Katana at some point. Did you ever wonder why we didn't have Wakizashis too? Well now we do! It's very similar to the Katana, but both the blade and the handle are shorter, allowing you to use this fine collector's item as a onehanded weapon AND attach it to your belt.
1 new variation to the Katana
It's just another Katana with a different style handle, that's all.
2 different types of Tanto knives
Since we already have 2 Katanas and 2 Wakizashis, I thought it was a great suggestion from Steam user brandonl271 to add Tantos as well. :)
Swiss Army Knife
The vanilla multitool has a 1-in-2 chance to lose Condition so I decided to bring back the mighty Swiss Army Knife from the B41 version of this mod. Go ahead and try to break it. It will break you first.

About balance
The new katana and both wakizashis are almost just as rare as the basegame katana. I've given them a few additional possible spawn points.
The Axe-Maul is almost as rare and difficult to find as sledgehammers are. There are a couple of new spots where my stuff can spawn in though, so be vigilant when looting!

To-Do-List
Breaking, crafting and repairing recipes/scripts. I haven't yet had a proper chance to dig in deeply into the new B42 lua scripts so at launch my stuff might act a bit weird, just like everything else in the unstable.

I'll get to disassembly stuff when I get the motivation for it. I've got a whole lot going on with my gun mod still, and I've been mainly helping other modders through the past month.

Also this mod is going to get a Naginata update soon. A highly effective long spear that doesn't break in seven seconds. Stay tuned people!

do you plan on adding disassembly for your weapons? it didn't seem like i was able to before i died in my run.

It would be nice to be able to disassemble these weapons to swap handles/heads etc. like vanilla weapons can.

Also, another thing that seemed to have happened when i was playing was this.

When repairing a fiberglass axe, it does not repair the handle condition, or the head condition, the issue with this is that low head condition means low sharpness, which means more durability loss. This combined with the fact that you cannot replace the axe head, and that removing and repairing the handle with the fiberglass patching stuff isn't possible means that this weapon is not sustainable.

IMO, you should make the axe use the vanilla axe head, make the weapon capable of being disassembled, and add a repair option for just the fiberglass handle.

This way if you want to repair the axe, you have to disassemble it, repair/replace the axe handle or head, and reassemble.

I have returned!

Update 5 dropped!

-Added recipes for assembling all my weapons and tools. You can find fiberglass handles for the Fiberglass Axe and the Axe-Maul, and every tool and weapon that's in this mod is now possible to assemble after they break. This update had me write about 700-800 new lines of scripts and LUA along with new icon textures, so bear with the bugs if you find any. And as per Steam user timidr's suggestion, next up will be forging or blacksmithing my weapon parts. :)

@Rainmaker I don't know if it's planned, but I think it would be cool if we could be able to forge blades and heads for the modded weapons. Like being able to forge a sawback machete blade or bearded hatchet head would be awesome. Either way, thanks for all the work you put into these, love the mod!

Yeah I'll have to apologize, it's been months since I've even looked at melee weapon OnBreak LUA scripting.
I'm so much more into guns that I never break my melee weapons. :D
I'll try to get on all the issues now that it's June. Thank you for the comments and reports. :)

I just noticed something but I wonder if its just me. But for Axe (Fiberglass), I notice the Sharpness and Head Condition seems to always start out at like 60% green? Even for brand new ones that I've found. I've tried going into debug mode to repair it to see but while the handle can be fixed, the Head Condition is capped at 60%.
