Description
Ordered July of 1940 in the months leading up to the American entry into World War Two, the Montanas are a class of five United States battleships armed with additional 16"/50 caliber main guns. They were designed as "slow" battleships, though still able to rely on an even mix of speed and firepower, they were just capable of sailing at the same speed as the carrier force. During their modernization in the 1980s alongside the Iowas, the Montanas were equipped with four Phalanx CIWS mounts, as well as Harpoon and Tomahawk missile launchers. The Montanas were built to dish out a supreme amount of firepower, even at the sacrifice of some speed, with a top speed of just 30 knots, too slow for the carriers, but still faster than a few smaller escorts like the Oliver Hazzard Perry class frigates. All five Montanas would become museum ships just as the Iowas did, and go to serve as monuments to their awesome power.

Ok, this was definitely a fun one to make. I've always been fascinated by the Montanas for various reasons and I figured I might as well bring them to life in Sea Power. Use it just like you would the Iowas, also like the Iowa, I have included a VLS variant with the same loadout system, allowing you to keep that massive punch and gain the extra turret. Your only real sacrifice is the 3 knots of speed lost from the Iowas, which is a relatively minor issue. More stuff coming as I have time, upload rate will probably be slowing down a bit pretty soon here, so be ready for that. Also, NTU is only required for the VLS variant, not for the 80s variant, so that really comes down to preference there. That's pretty much it for me, enjoy!

Update Note: Latest update as of 2/22/25 has allowed the addition of custom textures without the use of SeaLifter or other dependencies, meaning these now include all 5 hull numbers and names to go with.

They are crashing the game after last update when you try to load them into a mission, and I am going to assume that your Iowa updates will probably do the same. I haven't tested your other ships. Hope we can get this sorted out....?

There is an Iowa mod which removes the Tomahawk ABLs and (on one of the two variants) adds back the four removed 5-inch gun batteries back to the ship. It would be neat to see the Montana mod given a 1940s-era version, replacing the missiles and CIWS with said 5-inch guns and some 76mm anti-aircraft guns.

Great addon, would LOVE to see something similar for the Alaska Class Battlecruisers or HMS Vanguard!

True for the Phoenix, it includes both versions, but not for the Tomahawk 109F (which was the one I looked at and I assumed the other one would also have the same problem) it only includes the old values, CounterMeasuresRejection and NoiseRejection.

It has both so that it works in any version of the game.

Hi @GoldLeader108

usn_rgm-109f and usn_rim-54a still use the old values for ECCM: CounterMeasuresRejection and NoiseRejection instead of the new ones:

AntiCountermeasuresBonus=x.xx // This value subtracted from probability of spoofing by countermeasures (0...1)

AntiJammerBonus=x.xx // This value subtracted from probability of being jammed (0...1)

The issue with that is the SoDaKs were effectively shrunken North Carolinas which were already smaller than the Iowas as is, and the proportions would just be near impossible to get right off an Iowa hull. I am looking into trying to make some British BBs though, maybe a Vanguard or KGV
