OvN Lost Factions: Fishmen Invasion

Description



This mod is part of the OvN Lost Factions mod series which adds new and interesting factions & races to the game and requires Mixu's Unlocker to work. These races are available to play in the Immortal Empires campaign and custom battles.


Fishmen Invasion
Unlike previous installments of our mod series, this is not a full faction addition. But we still wanted to add the Fishmen race in an interesting and immersive way.

What's Included
  • New Playable Units - Fishmen units are added which are available as mercenaries for every faction in campaign and also in custom battles.
    • Menfish
    • Feral Wyrdclams
    • Wyrdclam Riders
    • Abyssal Giant
    • Abyssal Acolyte
  • New Unusual Location - A mysterious fishing village can appear as a new unusual location in coastal settlements of the Old World.
  • Custom Mechanics
    • New Dilemma - If you endure the negative effects of the Cult of the Abyss in your settlements, you have a chance to receive a random dilemma. Here you can choose to recruit Fishmen mercenaries.
    • New Rogue Army - However, if you disturb the activities of the Cult of the Abyss, be prepared for the vengeance of the Fishmen!



F.A.Q. & Compatibility
Currently, it works with IEE but not with TOW. I (Rhox) haven't looked at the TOW codes to work on it.

Mod Won't Start/Missing Updates
There is a chance after the mod gets updated that steam will fail to download the update, possibly corrupting your version of the mod. If your game crashes on game start, you are missing something from a recent update or have some other issues try this;
1) Restart Steam - This can kick start the process of checking for mod updates
2) Unsubscribe and resubscribe to all the required mods - To properly unsub, unsub from the mod, start the game launcher, quit and resub. This will give you a fresh install of the mod and often fixes problems for people.
3) Use PropJoes WH3 Mod Manager

Is this mod lore accurate?
With many of these 'Lost Factions', there's little lore to go by, and what there is, is often outdated or extremely vague. The Fishmen race is probably one of the most unexplored races in the Warhammer world. Thanks to our brilliant modeler BarboMarsh, the Fishmen are brought to life in our mod as a tribute to the Deep Ones and the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft. In our opinion, something of this kind was missing and the interpretation fits perfectly into the Warhammer world. We have tried to integrate the Fishmen into existing lore as much as possible. You can discover our ideas on this in the historical unit descriptions and the other texts included in the mod.

Mod Compatibility and Compatibility Submods
Currently there are no known incompatibilities.

Will update section when compatibility submods are released.

Bug Reporting
Before reporting a bug make sure you have done the following;
1) Subscribed to all the required mods.
2) Turned off all other mods and replicated the bug.
3) Unsubscribed and resubscribed to all the required mods.

If you still have a bug post it to discord, ideally with a screenshot - at the OvN channel on Da Modding Den[discord.gg], Lost Factions[discord.gg] or if it is a small bug you can post in the comments but please try the above at least before posting. This helps us out and saves us time so we can concentrate on genuine bugs.

Enjoy the mod but not enjoying the sheer number of fishmen units in a myriad of AI armies. Configuration options for their presence and culture availability would be fantastic.

@I AM GRUNGNAR Why WOULDN'T it work with Fimir? I just played Kroll and the cult spawned on second turn I think.

I think the Cult appears a bit too early, on many campaigns it has spawned in first few turns and it really hampers growth early on for many factions. Also agree with Nampot there, that it's a bit too common for armies to have them on almost every faction.

I hope the fishmen get added as a playable faction at some point, they're genuinely cool and it feels like a waste to just make them mercenaries.

I love the idea of this mod, but I turned it off because it did not take long before each and every army I came across in a campaign had a bunch of Fishmen in it, so I ended up getting tired of seeing them. It would be nice if maybe they were a little rarer, region specific, or if only certain factions were inclined to pick them up.
