DFS 230 Glider

Description
DFS 230 is transport glider built by "German Research Institute for Sailplane Flight". It played significant roles in the operations at Fort Eben-Emael, the Battle of Crete, and in the rescue of Benito Mussolini. Although production ceased in 1943, it was used right up to the end of the war, for instance, supplying Berlin and Breslau until May 1945.

The DFS-230 could be towed by a Ju 52, a He 111, a Ju 87, Hs 126, a Bf 110, or a Bf 109. The Ju 52 towed the glider using a 40 metres cable or, in bad weather, a much shorter rigid bar connected by an articulated joint to the tow aircraft.

DFS 230 C-1 is late production version with nose braking rockets, parachute and machine gun.

FEATURES & NOTES & USER GUIDE
📌 Realistic in scale and weight (added hidden weight blocks to reflect loaded weight of over 2000 kg)
📌 It is a glider, there is no propulsion! It requires tug aircraft.
📌 There is rocket assisted takeoff sub-assembly which can be used for testing if there is no suitable tug aircraft. They will drop after 20 seconds of burn. So, do not merge it to the glider. It may not be necessary but pushing the glider out of hangar is safer.
📌 Wheels are jettisonable, they will automatically drop shortly after takeoff.
📌 Currently there are two ways to connect with the tug aircraft:
1. Tow winch with 40 m cable
2. Two meter bar for use in bad weather
Both allows composite signal to aid controlling the glider if no pilot available for it. The glider will try to match altitude and direction of the tug aircraft.
📌 There is a key button on the tow winch and the tow bar which requires user to activate AFTER both ends are connected. Thus, when one end of the connector is released, either by tug or glider, the other end will be released automatically.
📌 Aim for at least 150 kph for gliding after released from tug. Glide ratio of 2 to 3 is to be expected.
📌 The glider has braking parachute and braking rockets. Braking rockets required to be armed, they will fire automatically right before impact. Parachute is manually operated.

Hopefully I can learn how to attach others too, one last time, thanks so much! :D

PrepMosquito114,
Air drag is high in game. There is rocket fin exploit to reduce drag but it may cause infinite acceleration (if negative fin_factor value is too much) at high altitudes where drag is less.

After releasing rockets or tow aircraft my glider rapidly looses speed, is there a fix?

Here I made Ju52+DFS230 for you: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3445301293

Save it, because I will remove it soon.

conwhitgaming,
Move the temperature probe 1 block forward and add electric connector there.
And look at my comment below.

Wait I looked for the tail electric connector for the JU 52, unable to find it. please advise.

Jimpuffpuff,
It is easy to setup a plane for towing. It needs an Electric connector at the back, in line with center of thrust. Designate a release key or button for it and that's it.

If you want smoother execution or your tug is a small plane like Hs 126, output composite signal to that connector:

Channel1: Altitude
Channel2: Compass
Jimpuffpuff 14 Mar @ 4:39pm
are there any other plane mods that can tow this thing?
Thales  [author] 14 Mar @ 5:02am
Composite channel 1 outputs altitude, channel 2 compass.
