I've always wanted a tasteful expansion of the more intimate mechanics in Rimworld. There are those mods, of course, but they always felt too crass, too explicit.

And so, I present to you, a tasteful expansion of intimacy mechanics!

Mod compatibility


Most mods should work perfectly fine with most mods out of the box. Compatibility patches for many mods, from Way Better Romance to ReSplice: Charmweavers and Nals' Facial Animation, are built into the mod!

Developers that want to patch their mods to work with mine should be delighted to know that this mod was developed with exactly that in mind. All significant checks use common helper functions and modders can easily Harmony patch onto those functions. Modders can even easily override things like how often seduction attemps happen and how likely other pawns are to accept seduction attempts.

Keep in mind that only major additions and changes get their own infographic here. For an extensive list of all changes, see the changelogs page.


Reworked the ideology precepts around physical love:
  • Free/Free and approved - The same as vanilla.
  • Partner only if commited - Pawns will engage in casual lovin' if they don't have a spouse/fiance/lover. If they are in a relationship, they will only do lovin' with their spouse/fiance/lover.
  • Polycules only - Similar to spouse only, but pawns that share lovers are allowed to do lovin' as well. This allows for 'play' between members of a harem.
  • Partner only - Pawns will only do lovin' with their spouse/fiance/lover.
  • Spouse only - Pawns will only do lovin' with their spouse.


This is dynamic, too! You won't see the option to set a pregnancy policy for couplings that would never do lovin'.

Future plans
I currently have one sub-mod planned.
  • One will add simple contraceptives to prevent pregnancies. I did not include these in the base mod as I thought they were kinda bloat.
These sub-mods will be completely optional.

What's different, compared to similar mods?
This mod...
  • Is a lot more tasteful.
  • Is not explicit.
  • Is relatively lightweight.
Does this mod support 1.5 and 1.6?
No, there will be no support provided for 1.5 users. The mod, however, did work in 1.5 at some point and I saw no reason to break saves, so I left the 1.5 version in. Play with it at your own risk.

I found an issue, what should I do?
Report them in my Discord server.

Is this mod compatible with [X mod]?
Intimacy is considered compatible with all mods until an incompatibility is reported, in which case the incompatibility will be logged in the Compatibility Matters thread.
Questions of this sort will be deleted with no response. Don't ask, go test it yourself.

Could you make mechanitors ignore mechs set to recharge when seducing them?
Or make the mechs do the task anyway? I've had my mechanitor go up to a recharging (Dormant charge) mech for lovin', the mech wakes up for a moment, then immediately back to recharge and the mechanitor goes on with their day without getting any intimacy.

@malicron if it hels there is the mod show me your hat and hair. It defaults all hats even helmets to hidden but you can turn them back on. But it is an all or nothing.the item is always hidden or always shown.

Quick question: would it be possible to have pawns take off their head wear as well as their other cloths while "romancing"? It looks a bit silly to have two people mash their power armor helmets together in a "passionate embrace".

@turkler That would be cool actually! Another question, because I couldn't find it. Is the intimacy need supposed to disappear after a certain age? One of my pawns used to have, and now at 55+ does not. Is that intentional?

@Ennian I mean I'll add a chance multiplier for pregnancies next update, if that helps. I'm looking over the code and it is indeed practically identical

@turkler I have no idea, it's weird then! I think it's happened at the normal chance about twice, and I have modified Pigskins who all have the fertile gene so should technically be just constantly pregnant. I've played enough family-style games that this is definitely an exception. It might be an interaction, though I am not sure which that could be. Good to know it's nothing to do directly with the code of this mod though.

@Ennian could just be placebo, or you have something else affecting things? for reference, this mod's pregnancy code is the same as vanilla. as in, I literally copied over the code with ilspy and made some surface level changes, nothing that should affect pregnancy chance
also I have no plans for any sort of pregnancy delay

Also, I read a comment below asking for a womb delay or delay to pregnancy after giving birth, and I want to ask if this can please be an optional feature instead of a mandatory change. I like having lots of kids, and also, breastfeeding as is reduces the chance of another baby soon after birth to practically zero anyway, so would be a bit sad if the mod suddenly introduced an arbitrary cooldown timer on pregnancies.

Hey turkler, enjoying your mod and hoping I can ask a couple questions. I'm a generations style player and I've noticed when starting to use your mod (I also use Way Better Romance) that my pawns seem to get pregnant less often. I like keeping the pregnancy chance on 100% to have a degree of surprise and randomness when playing, and before I would get quite a few (un)fortunate buns in the oven, but since installing the mod I am finding I have to basically set to try for baby to get any offspring...does the mod mess with the chances? I have currently set the seduction events to 0.75 because I find too much seducin' is a bit distracting, but my pawns are getting it on plenty and no babies.
