解説
A team-based game mode, consisting of a defending, and an attacking team.

The defending team is on its LAST STAND. They cannot respawn, but they start with bonus health. Every kill the defenders get counts towards their score, with a score multiplier that increases with every kill and every half-minute or so.

The attacking team has SURROUNDED the defenders. They have infinite respawns, but do not score points. Attackers must try to kill the defenders without losing any lives themselves.

After all defenders are eliminated, the roles change. The first team to reach the goal score wins. Because Agatha always starts first, if they reach the goal score, Mason still gets to play their round to try to beat them.

Maps

The mod can be played on any LTS or TDM map, but some maps work better than others, and ideally a map would be customized for this mode like it would be customized for any other mode. The Last Stand Map Pack has a few that have been so tweaked.

Note that, rather than swapping players' teams, it changes the game mode's spawn logic to spawn players at the opposing team's spawn points (Defenders always spawn on Agatha spawn points, Attackers always spawn on Mason spawn points); therefore, it can't be used on any maps with Kismet or other features that rely on certain teams being in certain places. I don't know right now whether any such maps exist, but I figured I'd mention it. Can be played online, or offline with bots.

Instructions

Online, joining a server that already has it installed:
  • Just join the server!

Offline or with a listen server:
  • Subscribe
  • Launch the old launcher (the last launch option when launching the game), and click the 'Download subscribed items' button at the bottom-right.
  • You should see the mod in the Create Game screen

To start a dedicated server with it:

Start a server with ?modname=laststand on the command line (appended to the map). You can also add -sdkfileid= (note that this number matches the number in the URL for this Workshop page) to the command line to auto-download this mod. For example:

UDK.exe aoctd-frigid_p?modname=laststand -sdkfileid=

You can specify the mod you'd like to use in the maplist as well (in PCServer-UDKGame.ini), allowing you to switch between mods if you want. For example:

Maplist=aoctd-frigid_p?modname=laststand
Maplist=aoctd-moor_p?modname=someothermod

  • 1 second spawn waves, no minimum respawn time, to hopefully overwhelm the defenders more

  • Changed scoring logic completely. Now it's purely kills-based, with a multiplier that is intended to reward lasting longer, but in a more sensible way
  • Added a HUD!
  • Haven't really tested this adequately yet!

the mode is not working anymore for me. after installing mode, when I try to join, the game freezes at loading screen

I'm also adding a HUD for that rules text and to show the multiplier, which is the only reason this isn't done yet...

It's still confusing, though.

I'm going with the second plan, kind of. New in-game rules will display this when first spawning (big and in the centre of the screen where it can't be missed):


The defending team:
- is on its LAST STAND
- cannot respawn
- starts with bonus health
- gets points from kills, with a bonus multiplier

The attacking team:
- has the defenders outnumbered
- can respawn
- does not score points


hopefully that's simple enough. The multiplier will increase by 1 every X seconds (tuning...), and for every kill. Will try to see what other maps I can find that work well with this other than NoMercy. Moor and Arena might make sense if I create special variants of them...

why anybody play this mod, this mod must be integrate at the original game, it's the best game mode
