Description
A perfect moisture vaporator for use at dry dusty planets like this one here.

Moisture Vaporator on Wookiepedia[starwars.wikia.com]

WHAT IT DOES

When turned on it produces ice in small quantities with production rate depending on the atmosphere density. So don't expect it to get you ice in outer space, mates.

Rate is ~0.024 kg per second from 100% density atmosphere.

You can check current density in the info tab of the block in terminal.

Has all the needed construction stages, survival ready (otherwise what would you use it for?).

UPDATE 9

- Fixes provided by Deapri

UPDATE 8

- Performance overhaul by Menos

Performance upgrade inroduces some changes to the way this block works:

- If the Vaporator cannot work it switches itself off to save CPU time.
- Vaporator can only work on static grids (grids that are a Station).
- Vaporator needs minimum air density of 0.01 to operate. Essentially just a CPU-saving change, as it also took air density into account before, and then kept producing (close to) zero amounts of ice.
- Vaporator will check planets only once. So if you add/remove planets manually you need to restart the server before you can use the Vaporator on them.
- Values can be configured via local world storage config.
- Note that if you set the amount of ice produced too high it appears like the block is not working, while in fact it just cannot add ore to it's inventory anymore. Also if you change power values, the displayed max power will no longer be correct, but that's just visual.

UPDATE 7

- The long ancticipated graphics update thanks to Stollie!

I mean, really, it's time to celebrate! This mod is 3.5 years old and still updated thanks to our great community members!

UPDATE 6

- The Moisture Vaporator is now ready for the Surival update.

The new version costs 50 PCU. It uses 4x the current power and produce 5x the ice. So you will be able to use fewer of them and get faster results but still need similair power usage ratios. With the new wind turbines it shouldn't be too hard to get them powered. It lets actual gas generators take its ice now and has a slightly more detailed info readout.

UPDATE 5

- A wild bugfix appeared! Many thanks to Anarch Cassius for picking up this mod and fixing both previously known issues and compatibility issues with latest Mod API.

UPDATE 4

- Added upgrade module support. Please note that power efficiency module will not do anything. At least for now.

UPDATE 3

- Fixed conveyor issue by switching to refinery definition. Because Refineries don't use the PowerConsuptionMultiplier, the power consumptions is now always 220kW, which is ok. Good news - new definition allows me to add upgrade module compatibility - script logic is already using upgrade variables for Effectiveness and Productivity, I only have to alter the model and add dummies, so stay tuned.

UPDATE 2

- Fixed interfering with oxygen generation and air vent depressurizing.

UPDATE 1

- FIxed power consumption: now Vape uses from 22kW to 220kW depending on air density.
- Added sound to the working state.
- Changed materials in the model to make it work with new definition.
- The block is now treated by the game as OxygenGenerator, which helped me to sort out a few things.

KNOWN BUGS

- LOD models don't work yet for some reason. Investigating.

Testers and contributors are welcome!

Well, I'm not into modelling, so this mod doesn't bring you the best visual experience it actually could. I also have terribly weak skill in C# and SE scripting, so I might have done some things not the best way, I admit it, okay?

That is why I published sources to github and expect you guys to help me make this wonderful block better for our community.

Many thanks to:

Stollie for updating the model and adding great animations to it!

Menos for digging into performance issues.

Deapri for providing bugfixes.

Anarch Cassius for making Vaporator great again.

Digi and The Power of Ra for Athmosphere density check algorithm (don't know who made it earlier, so thank both)

Siro for the mod 'CobbleGen' which was a Cobblestone Generating Drill block that is not available on Workshop anymore. Thanks for the generator algorithm and commented code, seriously.

Dumb Question but since I know this produces enough with one or two for most Air-tight Bases to function.
How many of these would be needed to single-handedly provide enough ice for 1 Hydrogen Engine? I feel like I am reading gibberish sometimes looking at the SE wiki for power blocks.

Thanks boss :mhwgood:

Probably has, but yes since Update 8 you can edit the ice produced and power consumed in MoistureVaporator.cfg in your world save's Storage\709975763.sbm_Vaporator directory.

Sorry if this was already answered at some point, but is there a way to modify how much it produces for balancing purposes?
CraftTJohnson 12 Dec, 2024 @ 8:28pm
Pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to try it in multiplayer, so I look forward to community feedback. I also updated it to cache the last planet used until you take it to space, and made the "cache cubes" for movement 10m. Try it out! it's under the same license if you want to move any code to your mod :D

@CraftJohnson hey good job with that one! How is the performance?
CraftTJohnson 11 Dec, 2024 @ 11:49am
Thought ya'll should know I published a version that is designed for mobile grids and should still be pretty efficient: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3382681917
It credits back here under the same license. Have fun.

This threw an error when I loaded it. Just an fyi.

I've added this to a scrapyard modpack, but its not showing up anywhere in my block menu. do you reckon its a load order issue, or is there any known conflicts?
