Ragdoll Mover

Issue : IK Rigs will glitch out when moving the ragdoll using the IK Chains function.
Hello, pardon for bothering.

I'm an Gmod artist and an animator who had used Ragdoll Mover for some of my projects back then.

And the IK Rigs function works perfectly fine back then, especially for animating walking animations, before the major update that changed most of the addon.

After the update, most of the function still works fine, but everytime when using the IK Rigs, the limbs would constantly move back and forth from the postition I'm moving it and the upper part of the part of ragdoll I'm moving for some reason.

I've tested it on ragdolls that uses Valve and Non-Valve rigs, and all of them has the same bug.

Then I speculated if it got problems with the x64 beta branch, as I was using the original x32 branch back then, however it the same bug occurs.

Although it might have something to do with conflicting addons, as I did try out the older version of this addon, and yet the same bug still occurs, but I still haven't tried it when all addons are disabled, so I'm not sure about it for now.

And I'm not sure if the leftover .gma file from the older version of the addon have something to do with it.

I don't want be like one of those posts and just screams "IT'S BROKEN" without any kinds of explanation or details, but I didn't really see anyone that have posted a similar issue with the one I'm currently dealing with, hence why I've decided to make this thread.

If the problem was already addressed before, please let me know.

But again, I hope that the issue can be fixed soon, as several of my projects has been delayed because of it.

If any additional information is needed, please let me know and I'll provide more.

Thank you.

IK chains functionality wasn't changed much since between ragmover versions, at most maybe the root bone detecting thing would've gotten somewhere, but that is unlikely. what's your tool update rate, just in case? would it be possible to record a video of that behavior?
NeoLin 5 Sep, 2022 @ 12:03pm
My tool update rate was mostly set in 0.01, as in it updates immediately for every move, but the issue still occurs even at lower rates like 0.10.

It may not be as constant and vibrant as when it set in 0,01 though, but still.

And I'll see if I can record a footage if I got time recently.👌

Hey uh, here's the video, took a while, pardon.

As you can see if affects both the ragdolls using Valve's bipid bones and the ones using IK Chains function.

Haven't really checked it without any addons disabled though, just saying.

don't think i've had anything like that on my end. do check if behavior persists with other addons disabled just in case

Hey uh, just coming back with another update.

Tried to disable every addon I have, still got the same issue, even after restarting the game.

Removed the old .gma file from my addons folder, and yet the issues still occurs.

I have absolute no idea on what I should do now, since I basically tried everything I can, and the problem is still there.

I have just unsubscribed and resubscribed the addon, as well as cleaned up my entire addons folder.

Yet the issues still persisted.

you wouldn't happen to have anything that's overriding gmod source physics things? or perhaps you're on 64 bit version of gmod, my version isn't in any of the beta branches, if you happen to have anything like those try checking how it would work if you put stuff back to the "usual" way it is

Right I see.

And yes, I was on the 64 bit branch of it, since I thought the 64 bit branch would have better performance than the default 32 bit branch.

Ok, just tried again, turns out that launching Gmod under its 64 bit beta branch is the cause of the problem.

Not sure if you would want to add this as an additional note in the addon description, but still.

Thanks for the help though.👍

yeah i recall people saying ragdoll mover was weird on 64 branch, but it also seemed to be randomly breaking for some people and for some not. unless no one was paying attention to ragdolls spazzing out like that on 64 bit.

still weird, some reported it was absolutely breaking on their 64 gmod, others said it was completely fine, and i don't have much of an idea why is that a thing

Right I see.
