Paint Scheme Contest [Metaladon's Models Contest #4]
Welcome to the 4th Metaladon's Models contest, after a general lack of modeling and a sudden urge to determine "just what makes a good paint scheme".

The Contest:

Create a unique and eye-catching paint scheme for any diesel locomotive!

After you've made a scheme, take some screenshots of it, and post them here in this thread to be evaluated.

Here's how the schemes will be compared to eachother:

0-5 score of Feasibility: Would it work to paint it like that? Cost? What's the visibility? How does it weather?

0-5 score of Creativity: Is it a recolor? Somthing totally different? Does it have it's own style? Unique profile? New?

0-10 score of Aesthetic: Does it flow visually? Do the colors pop? Is it too dense? Can it be adapted easily?

After schemes are scored, the top 3 schemes will receive picks out of my rolling stock inventory as a prize.

Some guidelines:

You may add any sort of logo or decal to your locomotives, just remember that if it doesn't feel like part of the scheme overall, it won't count for anything. Examples of "decals that flow with the scheme" would be UP's shields and flags, or NS's horsehead nose.

DETAILS ARE NOT THE FOCUS. I will be grading these entries on the scheme, not on the details. You will not win by adding more grab irons.

You are allowed to use ANY in-game resource to make this scheme. You can use your own previous projects, online dupes, and anything else as a starting point. It is reccomended you credit the original builder if you used a public dupe as a starting point. You are also allowed to use and submit schemes made before the contest, but keep in mind it will be counted as less creative.

Simplicity is your friend here. Don't go for somthing hard to execute on because you feel it will get you more points. This is a creativity contest, not a perfection grind.

Adapting the scheme for multiple locomotives is reccomended to demonstrate the flexibility and quality of your scheme. You are limited to a maximum of 3 screenshots per locomotive. You are also allowed to submit multiple schemes, but can only win 1 spot in the winner's circle per person. Top schemes who's creator has already won a prize will be listed as honorable mentions.

Prop-built and other such locomotives are allowed, but they'l simply be at a disadvantage because of how hard it is to make good schemes for them.

The Rewards:

The rewards will be measured in choices from my massive inventory of rolling stock, with almost 150 entries to choose from, made by Me, Pain, Iron, and many others.

The #1 pick will recieve 8 choices from the prize pool, with the #2 getting 6 choices and the #3 getting 4 choices, respectivley.

Disclaimer:

Dupes gained by this contest are still to be treated as PRIVATE. If you are found releasing one of these dupes, you will be disqualified from future contests.

You have from the time of posting (Sep 6th) to 3 weeks later (Sep 27th). The thread will be locked upon that deadline.

I'll be throwing my own hat in the ring here, just to test my own schemes, but I won't be judging myself, or giving myself prizes.

Good luck, and happy detailing!

Cool beans!
This won't affect your score, but you might want to take pictures of them from the other side so we can see them in the sun.

Note: Not competing, just throwing some of my old schemes in the ring to give people ideas and things to compare to.

SSID "Beeline" scheme, a generic 3-paint stripe with a unique set of colors.

TGRR "Searchlight" scheme, a wild and experimental not to mention unrealistic scheme.

TRI "Forest River" scheme, an experiment for a "blend" livery.

I'm entering with the custom livery I made for my railroad: Mechanism RailNet. It is pretty simple and straight forward and i'm not expecting it to end high in the competition but I think it's a good example of a livery that works on both custom built locomotives and the models.
