Crafting Overhaul

Gold exploit
Currently there's a very easy wait to get unlimited gold with this mod starting at level 1 probably.

1. Craft mage helmet using 2x cloth and some tools
2. Scrap it to pieces and get... 1 metal scrap and 1 scale scrap
3. ????
4. PROFIT!!!

I suggest that helms and armor (if possible) should give their base material when scrapped instead of same ones regardless of type (metal armor, leather, mage).

If there's no simple way to distinguish them then maybe base it on stat required to equip?

There are several ways which you can get profit from crating but this not one of them. There are some recipes regarding about arrowhead and grenade crafting with barrels for both Crafting Overhaul and the vanilla game.

This example you give requires finite amount of ingredients.

1- There is no infinite source of Cloth Scraps. Where did you get those? From another armor, bed linen?
2- Crafting takes time, it should reward people with higher value items/ingredients/results as long as it is balanced.

------------------

Aside from this, i will look into scrapping recipes and possibly make some change. It is a little bit outdated. I will make sure people get related items with appropriate armors.

Infinite source of items/ingredients comes from the fact that vendors restock quite often. There's also a trick with vendors that when you sell them something that they usually restock but what is absent now - they will no longer "refresh" it during restocks but instead will accumulate it on each restock.

Example: I buy out all cloth from ingredients vendor and sell it back. Due to how game works vendors will never ever throw away items that player sold to them so instead of refreshing amount of this item they start accumulating it.

I know that this is not a single case where crafting yields profit but this one is very easy, available from the very start, gives A LOT OF MONEY (when you sell chain-mail armors) and is very profitable even if your bartering is 0.

And yeah crafting does not take time because crafting 100 helmets via recipes takes same time as crafting 1 helmet. Same with scrapping. Only selling actually takes time =)))

Hmm, i think vendors dont keep items you sell after they refresh their inventory. But i saw there is buy-back tab on console versions so i'm not sure about them. Again, I don't know about accumulating exploit on vendors. Do you have a youtube video or link for explaining this GAME bug?

Can you define A LOT OF MONEY? How much is this exactly? I can give you some examples with vanilla recipes:

900 Chemical Warfare Grenade: 100 Empty Canister 1 Intestines
900 Cluster Grenade: 100 Empty Grenade 30 Fire Essence
600 Potion of Jellyfish Skin: 10 Empty Potion Bottle 30 Air Essence
600 Love Grenade: 0 Beehive 170 Empty Perfume Bottle

Here is the complete list of vanilla recipes you can sort them according to their profit value:

Grenades, potions, arrowheads gives you a lot of profit on Vanilla game. Also I must add, gold was never a problem for me as i have a thief in my party.

I will go a bit deeper into details later but as for shopkeeper keeping your stuff - they do. I even started a topic on this one but got just one answer confirming this behaviour:

You are correct that the vendors never get rid of items that you sell them, but I don’t see how that relates to exploiting recipes for gold. As I see it, those recipes you mentioned and the arrowcrafting only seem powerful in the first act. I consider myself to be a fletcher and I will spend hours in town buying up all the arrowheads and shafts to make special arrows. I can sell 100 arrows with 15 bartering and it only gets me gear for 1 character.

The inflation in this game is real, I don’t see a problem with prices. And I love that crafting is a viable source of income since we can’t grind mobs

It just makes the process of buying out all necessary ingredients easier. Instead of buying out all the stuff you may need EVERY refresh you can simply close/open trader screen and then buy out a whole bulk of resources after like 10 refreshes

It becomes even more powerful if you use speedhack or a mod that refreshes vendor every time you open the trade screen
