RESOLVED ISSUE
EDIT - this issue is now resolved. It will no longer affect anyone new or old using the mod. Thank you :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi GMs.

So sorry, but this last update had quite the unexpected side effect.

I altered base rocks and trees to be editable in GM mode and this caused any levels you had previously created and saved to lose all those rocks and trees (POOF! They are gone)

This was of course NOT intended, but it's happened and I'm not sure it can be reverted.

Q: Why did I do this? Why???

A: This mod is a WORK IN PROGRESS. It's not a final stable release (although it is getting very, very close to that). Until it is released as v1.0 and beyond it will be in a state of flux / change and things like this may happen. I will of course do everything in my power to prevent it from happening again, but what is done is done.

The reason I made changes to base assets is to give future GMs (the ones using version 1.0) more flexibility when they open an existing map made by Larian or from other modders. Currently without my mod if you open any of the default maps in the game you cannot change ANY of the major features. You cannot move stairs, delete trees, replace rocks or do any large modification at all. Your only option is to use the Divinity Editor and change a level and then save THAT level as a mod that you add to your game. And if you don't like something you have to go BACK to the editor and do it over and update the mod. It's very clunky and time consuming. My mod aims to allow you to edit maps directly INSIDE of GM mode without ever having to use the editor or any other program unless you want to.

This is going to sound crappy, but my GOAL is to make the mod better and more useful OVER supporting existing campaigns that users have been creating with this mod. It was never my intention that folks should start building large campaigns with this before a stable version 1.0
I warned everyone that this was a WIP = work in progress and I needed help testing, bug fixing and providing feedback. Unfortunately Steam Workshop was probably not a good place to do this, but it's what the game supports internally. In the future I guess I will manually upload to somewhere like Nexus or Github to do beta testing.

Having said all of that I am GENUINELY SORRY and feel terrible that I affected people's hard work and I will continue to try and find a solution to at least fix your levels you have created so far. I will post files and suggestions to this discussion thread to try and fix the damaged levels. I can't promise anything, but I will try.

Moving forward I will not edit base objects and once the full version is released in a few weeks it should be 100% stable and not cause these kinds of issues with saved campaigns.

In short I f^&*ed up. I'm sorry. I'll try to fix it. BUT my focus is on getting the final stable release version of the mod which will benefit thousands of GMs everywhere.

Thank you!

Yeah this definitely blew up my campaign :/. I have a back-up saved that was has about 60-70% of my work saved but the last 30% ive been working exclusively in the 'modded' version, which before now did not have any critical issues.

If you find a way to fix this it would be much appreciated.

For anyone looking to "fix" this yourself there is a workaround.

1. Create a new campaign.
2. Copy all of the Maps and Vignettes .lsf files from your original (borked) campaign into the new one.
3. Copy LSF files from the base folder but DO NOT copy "eggs.lsf" or "meta.lsf". One of those might actually be okay to copy but one (or both) of them will cause the game to not recognize your campaign at all and you will NOT be able to load it.
4. Now go ahead and enable all of your non-JRavens mods and check out your maps.

The above rescued a fair amount of my work was salvaged with this fix. That said I would love to see a fix go in for this mod because I would love to re-enable it and continue to use it as its added a significant amount of decorative assets to my scenes.

Good luck resolving this JR and while I understand this is not your priority try to keep in mind that the people this hurts most are the ones trying to help you :steamsad:

Hi Rekuul. I do hear you and I am actively working on a fix (fingers crossed).

If you are willing and able it would be a great benefit to me to get a copy of your original "borked" campaign folder - the messed up on not your fixed one. Then I can try loading your levels locally on my machine and see if my fix is working. I have another campaign I am doing that with and so far it *seems* to be working as intended... but having more files to test could definately help.

Thanks so much and stay tuned!

This didn't just blow up my campaign, but my SP game as well.

Objects are missing in a lot of places -- walls are gone, platforms are gone, NPCs still think they're there... It's horrible. Here's to hoping there's a fix -soon- lest I have to restart my entire campaign.

My .rar'ed campaign is in the link below. Change the X's at the beginning though (had to alter the link to get around Steam's phishing protection).

@Erkor - man I'm really sorry. For your SP game on the main load screen try clicking the MODS button and unchecking my mod (the mods button is for mods applied to single player while campaigns use the addons tab in the campaign load screen) and then load your save game and see if that works.

Thank you Rekuul and Warfare! I have downloaded these campaigns and will check them with my local fixed copy and report back.

OK so I looked at both campaigns and overall they seem mostly intact.

Warfare - The Beach map loads absolutely fine for me... well at least for rocks, etc. I dunno if anything else you placed is missing, but to my eye it looks normal. There are voidlings on the beach etc. However your Beach Harbour map is still missing the wooden platforms so that is definately messed up. I'll have to see if I can fix those platforms, but that particular map might need to be rebuilt from scratch. Your other maps *seemed* to load normally. Hopefully when I release the updated patch you can double check them all.

EDIT - ok so I fixed the platforms and such without breaking Rekuul's Beach Harbour. Things are looking very promising now!

Rekuul - Ironically your Beach Harbour scene is absolutely fine. Everything seemed to load into it. In fact most every scene I checked looked absolutely fine. Again only you will know if small or custom items are missing. There are a few scenes however labeled as Desert Caravan that load into black screens with nothing. I'm not sure if this is because I am missing a custom mod level you are using or what that may be about. It looks to me like I simply don't have that mod installed whatever it is.

EDIT - yeah so I just didn't have the GMAddons mod enabled (derp) which is why I couldn't load those maps. They load fine now and look to me.

If either of you have specific things you want me to check on specific maps I will be happy to do so and post pics.

Thanks for your help with this!

Thanks, I'll check on other maps!

On some other maps rocks are missing, on one map there are no stone maps. Also on "Hotel Basement" map one tile on the floor on the missing, so you can see water running under the level.

On the levels created after this issue, everything is fine.
